When I first started my print club, I knew I’d need to print large batches of the same design for my subscribers
After looking at the price of professional print presses, I decided to find a slightly more affordable solution…
⭐️ A tortilla press ⭐️
I’ve been using this for my lino printing since I started making lino cuts last September, and honestly, I’ve been amazed by how well it works
After 6 issues of Club Curio and 500+ lino prints, it’s become one of my most-used printmaking tools. The pressure is consistent, the prints come out beautifully, and for the scale I’m working at, it does exactly what I need
The only real limitation is size. I’ve found I can get great results up to around A5, but anything larger is going to require a different solution
So for now, I’ll be sticking with my trusty tortilla press. A proper print press can wait

Day 26 of my 30 day challenge ⭐️
After the overwhelming love for my last 30 Days of Lino Prints, I couldn’t resist jumping into another round. This time I’m working in landscape using eraser canvases to explore more horizontal objects.
It’s been so lovely seeing some of you feel inspired to start your own lino challenges 🖤 I’ve created the hashtag #30daysoflinoprints — add it to your posts so I can see what you create!

Come with me to pack a new wholesale order!
We joined Faire a while ago but I’ve finally sorted getting barcodes to put prints on there, and having a separate inventory for them.
The cold press laminator has been such a massive boon in being able to increase the production of Lino prints, it took so long before and many more dud ones I had to get rid of.
So if you’re an independent store looking for something different, we’ve got Lino prints and stickers on there at the moment, and sticker packs , greeting cards and bookmarks will be coming soon!
Hey, I’m Josh.
I spend most of my time drawing Australian plants and animals and turning them into prints, shirts, lino prints, and whatever other ideas I get excited about.
I’m just having fun making things and sharing the process along the way 🌿
Get yourself down to @theseasonslewes to see their new window display.
I collaborated on the window display with the amazing clients at @headwaysussexart . I focused on BIG mushrooms and the window art, and Headway created some unique art pieces.
@headwaysussex brings people who have suffered from brain injuries together to create art. The workshops and things they create are amazing and I’m so pleased to have teamed up for the display at @theseasonslewes
It’s part of @artwavefestival and will be up for the next couple of weeks so go check it out.
I went to @headwaysussex whilst I was very pregnant to do a workshop inspired by my book, The Mouse and the Mushroom Blooms, and we played around with watercolours and drawing forest scenes.
They spent the summer then creating some amazing flowers, mushrooms, leaves and a huge giant tree.
I made some giant mushrooms to add to the postbox and painted the forest scene on the window and then it all came together.
You can buy Lino Prints from myself and Headway as well as get your hands on a copy of The Mouse and the Mushroom Blooms.
There’s also a colouring competition, so head down and take part and see the amazing work!
Head over to Lewes and go check it out.

I have a pair of resident Magpies in my garden who have been particularly chatty these last few days so I thought I would celebrate them with a little autumn colour.
I really love the unpredictability of combining processes in this way it offers plenty of scope for experimenting, monoprinting over the lino prints with the grasses seems to work particularly well.
All the materials I use are listed on the website there is a link in the profile or you can go to https://www.impressionsofnature.co.uk/materials I also have a short Lino printing online course which you can also find in that page

Yesterday at the market I overheard something that genuinely made me smile to myself and made a note of it.
.
A girl picked up one of my lino prints and said to her friend, "I love this print."
.
She turned it over, looked at the price and said, "I don't love this print." 😂
.
Honestly, I wasn't offended at all. It made me giggle because I think we've all had moments like that.
.
But on my drive home, I kept thinking about it. Not because someone didn't buy a print, but because it reminded me how much exists behind something handmade that we never really get to see.
.
Every lino print on my table, for instance, started as a tiny idea, usually while I was out walking. Then came the sketchbook, the carving, the test prints, the ink-covered hands, the paper drying around the studio, the market preparations, the stall fee, the early start... and finally, a little print waiting for someone to connect with it.
.
I don't expect everyone to buy my work. Art is a luxury, and I completely understand that 🫶
.
But I do hope that, every now and then, moments like this help us remember just how much care, time and love can be hidden behind something made by hand 💚

i ❤️ lino prints, especially when an artist like @suzannekruisdijk makes it look so simple…. cuz it ain’t! 🐦
“A new bird portrait finished! It’s a reduction linoleum print with 9 (!) colour layers. It’s the 4th of a series of bird portraits I’m working on currently. This one was definitely the most complex one so far and not only because of the number of layers. The portrait is inspired by the Starling and I had to make a lot of color tests to achieve the dark warm shine. I didn’t think pure flat black ink did this beautiful bird justice. That’s why I built up the dark shades in such a way that they reinforce each other. The color scheme is therefore actually completely out of my comfort zone which was fun to do and also educational. For each colour layer I did carve more linoleum away from one block. As a result, the linoleum block is reduced to almost nothing and not suitable anymore for reprinting. It’s a limited edition print run.”
I have mostly hidden myself on this page 🫣 I think because i started making lino prints in the aftermath of a mini music ‘career’ which had left me feeling really overexposed and with my face having to be photographed all the time… and the delight of being able to share art rather than myself was just suchhh a bit relief! For a long time I kept myself very much in the shadows, but in the past few years as my identity has shifted again - becoming a mummy ect - I feel a bit braver and also that it’s important to share a bit more life as context for my work. Showing that it’s not all finished, polished artworks, but also messy studio creative life, squeezed into free hours and free space, surrounded my laundry and often wading through various toddler floor drawings…
~
I hope it’s interesting and gives context to how and why I work in the way that I do. Maybe it is!? Maybe not. I don’t know, but either way it felt like a right time to say hello - if possibly a few years late 😂

There’s only a few days to go of my Tulip print drop, with 9 designs available for international shipping - some of which have never been available before! The link is in the bio on my page 💗
