Thank you @laposte for helping me get my 10k daily steps in while sick and 8-months-pregnant, despite me paying for home delivery!🥰 I love waiting at home all day for packages that never come 📦 only to be told I “wasn’t reachable” at the time of delivery😊 oh the joys of exchanging with french fonctionnaires! #cultureshock #americaninparis #parisliving #livinginfrance #frenchculture
France is so much more than the places everyone already knows.
When international buyers first start thinking about property in France, their search often begins with a handful of familiar destinations.
But sometimes the most interesting possibilities appear when we widen the map.
More space. More character. Better value. A different pace of life. A thriving market town, countryside, coast — or somewhere you may never have considered.
The question isn’t simply **“Where should I buy in France?”**
It’s **“Where in France will give me the life I actually want?”**
🇫🇷 **Let me show you another France.**
Which part of France would you like me to explore next?

New country. New classmates. New generation. Same old overthinking. 😅
I came into this feeling pretty prepared. Maybe too prepared.👀
Planning, strategy, and risk mitigation are second nature to me after years of entrepreneurship and corporate life.
But during this week’s student orientation, I realized that some of the things that feel obvious to me aren’t necessarily obvious to everyone else. 🤔
So now I’m wondering are the experiences that make me confident also going to make it harder for me to connect with my peers?
Is that something to manage or accept?
Is it personality? Culture? Generational differences? All of the above???
I don’t know.🤷🏽♀️
But in 48 hours, I’ll start finding out. 📚

🇫🇷 In 2014, I moved to France with a dream… but no guide telling me how life here actually worked.

Is summer REALLY over in Marseille? 🇫🇷☀️
September 1st has everybody talking about going back to work and la rentrée… but did we really want summer to end? 😂
I definitely won’t miss the Marseille heat 🔥, but I’m going to miss the long days, late nights, the Mediterranean Sea, and the energy that takes over Marseille during summer.
While places like Paris and Lyon can feel much quieter when people leave for vacation, Marseille comes alive with visitors from all over the world. And honestly… I LOVE IT. 🌊❤️
Meeting new people, discovering new cultures, and having every day feel like the weekend is what makes summer in Marseille so special.
So… did we want summer to end, or did we just want it to get a little cooler? 😂

🇫🇷 Applying for a French long-stay visa and wondering how long approval takes?
The answer: it depends! ⏳
Processing times can vary depending on:
🛂 The type of visa you’re applying for
🇫🇷 Whether your application requires prior authorisation from the French authorities
📄 Whether your application is complete when you attend your visa appointment
The visa processing itself can actually be fairly quick. For certain visa categories, it’s obtaining the prior authorisation in France — such as work authorisation — that can add significant time to the overall process.
If all the necessary authorisations are already in place and you attend your appointment with a complete application, we generally see visas processed within around 1–4 weeks. ✈️🇫🇷

🇫🇷 Rejected by a bank in France? You still have rights.
If a bank refuses to open an account for you, French law gives you another option through Droit au Compte.
By applying through the Banque de France, you can have a bank designated to provide you with a basic account and essential banking services.
Many newcomers don’t know this right exists—but it can make all the difference when you’re trying to receive your salary, pay rent, or settle into life in France.
