I know them extended twist are a ticket! But don’t worry I got y’all. Here’s the ✨DETAILED✨ D.I.Y. extended twist tutorial 😘 the steps are listed below!!
Step 1: Retwist! Either do it yourself or let your loctician handle it. @manilocs always gets me right! 🔥
Step 2: Get your Cuban twist hair. You can go with regular Cuban twist or the Soft & Natural version. I prefer the regular—it’s a little rougher, making it easier to twist.
Step 3: Two-strand twist your locs down, then add your first piece of Cuban twist hair halfway through the twist.
Pro tip: ROLL the two sides of the extended twist into eachother (look at the video!!)
Step 4: As you twist, the section might start thinning out—to keep that fullness, add another piece of Cuban twist hair as needed.
Pro tip: as you keep going down you don’t need the full piece of Cuban hair! You can split it in half to make the twist begin to get slimmer!
Step 5: Keep twisting and adding hair until you reach your desired length. You want it to gradually get thinner at the ends because if it’s too thick when you dip it, it won’t give bone straight perfection!
Step 6: When you get to the very end, braid the last bit. If you start braiding too early (while there’s still too much hair), it’ll be visible—so wait until it’s thin enough for a very small braid! If it’s too bulky it won’t give what it needs to give!!!
Step 7: Comb out the ends before dipping to avoid knots and tangles. This is important because when you dip it you don’t want any knots in your bone straight bussdown!!
Step 8: Boil your water (I use a kettle) and dip those locs!
Step 9: While drying, pull with tension for that super sleek look. If you don’t have stylist hands like me, double up your towel because that water is HOT!
Step 10: After pulling with tension, there may be some straggly pieces so just trim the bottom so it’s neat like a geek 🤓🤓🤓
Step 11: You’re done! Now go be baddie bad bad with your long loc bussdownnnnn 😍
