Just call me the London Grinch. 🤣 JK we adore London but I’m generally not a fan of these activities, esp for families. See other options below, & comment LONDON GUIDE if you’d like my FREE detailed PDF itinerary with tons of tips on lodging, transport, food, & more! (Be sure to follow @localpassportfamily first or the link may get blocked) 💂 Changing of the Guard - This is SO classic but it’s generally super crowded, involves a fair bit of waiting, & is usually not that exciting for kids. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Instead, I suggest the Changing of the Horse Guards. It’s MUCH quieter, shorter, & has horses! 🐴 (Be sure to check the times/days for each.) But some families do love it; if you do want to do it, I HIGHLY recommend booking a tour - I suggest a couple in my free guide. 🚌 Hop On, Hop Off Bus - This is so popular & I don’t get why? It’s WAY more expensive than the regular London public bus (only £1.75/ride) & goes fewer places (+ often takes longer to get between them since it follows a set loop). Plus, kids under 11 are FREE on London city buses! I use Google Maps to find routes/stops, but Citymapper & TFL apps are also great. I will say if you have people with limited mobility in your party, HOHO is a nice way to tour the city without getting off/switching lines. Also good if you’re short on time & just want to see sites from afar. (Though buses 139, 9, 24, & 11 are lovely if you want to see sights from up high for cheap.) 🎡London Eye - We liked this but were NOT blown away. The views were better than expected (maybe my expectations were v low 🤣) but lines can be super long. Plus, it’s PRICEY. Instead, I recommend booking free tickets to Sky Garden or Horizon 22. In general, I don’t hate any of these, just generally don’t think they’re worth the time/money with limited time on a trip. Have you visited any of these spots? Or do you have your heart set on them? 📍🗺️ NEW @LONDON Guide on Google Maps: click the LINK IN BIO - open in external browser to launch Google Maps and find out map layers containing our personal favourite coffee shops, brunch spots, restaurants, bars and bakeries - you’ll even find the entire 2026 Michelin Guide of London in there! 🙌🏼 It’s something we built for ourselves, because we regularly found ourselves standing in the street, unable to figure out wha was nearby for a spontaneous coffee or drink, and we were determined not to go somewhere bad - we all deserve better right! - so the map prompts us to know what’s nearby, and all of its amazing. 🤩 So we decided to let you guys have access to our map - we’ll probably add pubs in really soon. But if you want anything else added to our guide, we’re happy to have some feedback … as we said - the idea originally was to have our own personal guide, not something that maps every single place in London. So it’s very much curated to our personal tastes - but for example - the coffee guide alone is outstanding and born out of 15 years covering coffee culture in London, knowing the owners and founders, the OG’s like @FlatWhiteSoho & @KaffeineLondon - as well institutional roasters, plus the newcomers that make Londons coffee scene super exciting. 🙌🏼 So let us know what you think! 📍: 2 course meal in under 60minutes . @rapidrestaurants has been revolutionary for the restaurant game. I have been trying rapid and this time again put it to test. I only had 60 minutes to get lunch so pre booked and prepaid my order and got 2 courses for only £11.25pp ~AD . The food and service at Mildred’s was flawless and I enjoyed a great value for money meal in such a good time. . Also, this lovely restaurant has outdoor seating as well which is perfect as the sun is shining. .
