Who we are: Tess is a retired advanced research teacher who was diagnosed with MCAS/dysautonomia in 2020. David is her husband and a physician whose understanding of gut health = immune stability has been key to her healing journey
Why a protein bar? Because at her worst, Tess needed a safe nutritious option that was #lowhistamine and good for people with multiple food sensitivities. And that just didn’t exist. Our bars are organic, high fiber, and lab tested low histamine, gluten free, dairy free, egg free, seed oil free, nut free, with no added sugar, sugar alcohols, or sulfites. Low histamine recipes that also support multiple “root causes” of histamine issues: MANGO SALSA EDITION 🥭
Remember, histamine isn’t the problem, it’s a signal. And the low histamine diet isn’t a solution, it’s a tool. But, it’s only a helpful tool when it’s used correctly, which I think a lot of people miss.
The goal isn’t to avoid these foods forever — especially low histamine foods, they’re some of the healthiest & most nutrient rich foods out there!! Instead, the goal is to lower the load temporarily, while simultaneously addressing the root of why histamine is dysregulated in the first place.
And this is why I love sharing recipes that support both ends of the equation, like this insanely delicious salsa. Here’s why:
- Mango & bell peppers = whole food vitamin c for mast cell stability & adrenal function (KEY for histamine regulation)
- Red onion & garlic = quercetin & sulfur compounds for gentle liver detox
- Olive oil = bile support to help clear toxins & hormones (like estrogen)
- ACV = digestion/stomach acid production & blood sugar support
- Cilantro = minerals for adrenals/nervous system & gentle detox support
It’s so simple, so fresh, and can be enjoyed so many different ways!! I used it as both a dip with @reeliefoods cassava & plantain chips, and as a yummy topping on mahi mahi.
LMK if you try :)
Ingredients:
1-2 mangos (~2 cups total)
1/2 small red & yellow bell peppers (~1/2 cup total)
1/2 small red onion
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 clove minced garlic
Mineral salt
Fresh cilantro
Directions:
- Finely dice mango + bell peppers + onion and add to a large bowl.
- Whisk together oil + acv + garlic + salt and pour on top, then add cilantro.
- Mix everything together until salsa is fully coated in dressing.
Top with more cilantro & serve with @reeliefoods cassava chips!!

🚨 The truth about low histamine diets 🚨
Yes, they can help calm things down short-term, but staying on a low histamine diet long-term could actually harm your gut, immune system, and gut bacteria which newsflash can make things even worse.
If you’ve been stuck in the “low histamine forever” cycle, it’s time to dig deeper.
➡️ The 3 main root causes of histamine intolerance we see:
1️⃣ Nervous system dysregulation
2️⃣ Gut microbiome imbalance
3️⃣ Mold/toxin exposure
The diet alone won’t fix these. That’s why symptoms return the moment you reintroduce foods.
You can break the cycle. A root-cause approach is key to healing your histamine issues for good!

Red flags your practitioner doesn’t actually understand histamine intolerance 🚩
If the only thing they’ve run is basic blood work…
they’re not looking in the right place.
Histamine intolerance is rarely a blood-level problem.
It’s a breakdown in clearance, signaling, and tolerance.
Blood work doesn’t show:
• impaired histamine breakdown in the gut
• bile flow + digestive signaling issues
• microbiome patterns that amplify histamine
• Hormone metabolism driving cyclic flares
• Toxins driving inflammation
So your labs look “normal”…
but you’re still reacting to foods, supplements, hormones, stress—even exercise.
That doesn’t mean nothing is wrong.
It means the root cause was never assessed.
Low-histamine diets and antihistamines can reduce symptoms,
but they don’t explain why histamine is piling up in the first place.
Histamine intolerance is a systems issue, not a single lab marker.
Comment READY if you’re ready for a root-cause approach to histamine intolerance.

A message like this honestly made my day 🤍
This weekend, one of my clients went out with her friends, had a pizza…no bloating, no itching… and slept deeply through the night.
A few months ago, this felt impossible for her.
She was:
• noticing reactions to almost everything she ate
• experiencing bloating after meals
• experiencing skin rashes and constant itching
• feeling anxious around food
Even “healthy” foods like smoothies were triggering symptoms.
And foods she loved, like pizza or chocolate, felt completely off-limits.
This is something I see so often.
When your body is in a state of histamine overload, it can start reacting to almost everything… and food becomes stressful instead of enjoyable.
So where did we start?
Not with extreme diets.
Not with endless supplements.
We focused on supporting her body step by step with a method I have developed in years working with histamine sensitivity and MCAS.
And her body slowly started to feel safe again.
Moments like this — enjoying a meal, feeling normal, sleeping well — are huge wins.
And they’re possible for you too.
If you’re experiencing similar symptoms and don’t know where to start,DM me LOW HISTAMINE and I’ll send you a short video explaining the first steps to calm your body.
I’d love to hear what resonates with you and support you in feeling well again 🤍

Anti Histamine Smoothie for allergy season - In my last post I gave you a list of foods that can help support you during allergy season. In this post I want to show you how you can incorporate those foods.
What goes in the smoothie:
Watercress (1 handful) - start with half if you’re not use to the taste
Moringa Powder (1 tsp)
Small handful of grapes
1 cup nettle tea cooled
1/2 a peach
2 Brazil nuts
Blend all the ingredient and enjoy. Lovely with a little ice.
Other ways you can incorporate the foods from my last post:
1- Add morninga to any smoothie smoothie
2- Add moringa to pesto.
3- Snack on an apple and some Brazil nuts
4- Add a couple of Brazil nuts to your porridge
5- Make tea with nettle and galangal
6- Have chamomile tea at night - calming too
7- Use turmeric in foods whenever you can (soups, smoothies, curries, everything)
8- Use onions in the base of your cooking
9- Have your vitamin D levels checked
10- Aim to be having 30 grams of fibre weekly and a variety of 30-40 different plant foods
11- Include greens like watercress on the side of your meal
12- Chop up a peach and have it with your porridge or as a snack

Don’t know what to eat, if a treatment is working or not, or what the heck your actual diagnosis is?
Stop. It’s time to reset. Time for some gut rehab- when you strip away everything you’ve added on while on your healing journey and start again.
Start by reconnecting with your gut- your naked, organic gut.
Take off all those supplements, and just listen and reconnect. Journal. What are you feeling and why?
Focus on a nourishing unrestricted diet.
Meditate and be mindful. Connect with yourself on a deeper level.
Reflect on your journey thus far, and reset, remove and start afresh.
Gut rehab is a fresh start that involves shedding the frustrations, the hopelessness and reconnecting with your gut and then moving forward in a new direction.

the solution is not cutting out high histamine foods forever ❌
the solution lies in repairing the gut, replenishing nutrients, supporting liver detoxification, calming the nervous system & removing environmental triggers so that you can tolerate foods again.

Scrolling, rushing, eating fast, constantly stressed… and wondering why your symptoms keep flaring.
For people with histamine intolerance, stress isn’t just mental - it can actually trigger histamine release in the body and make symptoms worse.
Sometimes your body doesn’t need another supplement… it needs a calmer nervous system.
🌸 Learn why stress can worsen histamine intolerance symptoms and what you can do about it.

I recently published a video where I mentioned the term Histamine Intolerant and since then, I have received a lot of queries to explain the same.
By definition Histamine is “a compound which is released by cells in response to injury and in allergic and inflammatory reactions, causing contraction of smooth muscle and dilation of capillaries.”
Histamine intolerance is sensitivity to dietary histamine, “a disorder associated with an impaired ability to metabolize ingested histamine.”
Signs you are histamine intolerant:
✔️Frequent Headaches
✔️Fatigue
✔️Digestive Issues
✔️Bloating
✔️Itchy skin / hives
✔️Nausea
✔️Frequent allergies
✔️Excessive Sweating
Foods that are high in histamine:
✔️Fermented foods
✔️Eggplant
✔️Alcohol
✔️Shellfish
✔️Spinach
✔️Dried fruit
✔️Vinegar

🍚 Viral Egg Fried Rice (Low Histamine)
Simple, warm, and easy on your gut — no sauces, no hidden triggers.
A quick comfort meal made from basic ingredients that most people tolerate well.
⸻
Ingredients:
• 1 cup white rice (freshly cooked)
• 2 eggs (very fresh)
• 1 small carrot, finely diced (raw or pre-cooked)
• 1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
• fresh herbs (parsley or dill)
• salt
• black pepper (optional, if tolerated)
⸻
Instructions:
1. Cook the rice and let it cool slightly (use fresh rice, not leftovers).
2. Heat a pan with oil or butter over medium heat.
3. Add the rice to the pan and warm it up.
4. Crack the eggs directly into the pan and immediately start mixing.
5. Stir continuously until the eggs are fully cooked and evenly coat the rice.
6. Add the carrot (raw or pre-cooked) and mix well. Cook for 2–3 minutes.
7. Add salt, herbs, and pepper if tolerated.
8. Serve immediately.
⸻
⚠️ Notes:
• use freshly cooked rice — leftovers can increase histamine
• eggs should be very fresh
• raw carrot = more crunch, cooked carrot = softer texture
• keep it simple — fewer ingredients = fewer reactions

Joey’s face when he finds out the low histamine diet actually has GOOD food on it. 😂
Because honestly — the internet would have you believe this diet is just sad lettuce and supplements. It’s not.
Yes, we skip the fermented foods (goodbye kombucha, it’s not you, it’s your histamine). And yes, bone broth is off the table for now.
But what’s left is actually a lot — most vegetables, most proteins cooked fresh, grains, good fats, loads of herbs and flavour.
Real meals. Food you’d actually want to eat.
Just don’t take food from Joeys plate!
The problem most people have isn’t the diet itself. It’s not having a clear picture of what’s actually on the eat me list versus the avoid me list — so they end up cutting things they don’t need to, getting overwhelmed, and still not feeling better.
That’s exactly what the Easy Low Histamine Diet Kickstart sorts out. A proper food guide, a 4-week meal plan with every meal already mapped out, and 4 live sessions with me to answer the questions that the food lists don’t cover.
Cart is open. Early birds still on until mid night tonight.
