LuAG (Lutetium Aluminum Garnet) is a lab created crystal with the same structure as a natural garnet but a crazy composition impossible in nature. With that comes impossibly bright fluorescence along with its snappy yellow-green color, giving it a powerful highlighter-like dayglow effect. We call this type of synthetic gem a 'lumogarnet.' It was created for use in science and medicine, where its incredibly strong fluorescence makes it useful for detecting invisible radiation like gamma and x-rays.
It's easy to cut, has hardness 8.5 with no durability issues so it's suitable for rings and has great optical properties. In short it sparkles and glows like nobody's business and makes for stones that reach out and grab people!

This gem is utterly ridiculous. It’s a luAG (lutetium aluminium garnet), which is grown for science and industry - often for detecting invisible radiation in medical imaging equipment, lasers and physics experiments. It literally glows in sunlight and looks even more mad in UV light ✨ Nothing like this exists in nature. It’s a durable gem (8.5 mohs) and is only cut into gems when it doesn’t meet the very high standards for its intended purpose, and therefore an ethical option for the few that are lucky enough to get their hands on one ✨

Just finished this LUAG synthetic today. The color is truly brilliant. Still working on trying to cut without diagrams, I learned to cut a split main crown to try and preserve weight. This stone finished at 9.51cts I got roughly a 37% yield. This gemstone is available for purchase if it interests you! Thank you again to @boyd.fox for the incredible class.
