Maip macrothorax was a 30-foot-long apex predator — one of the largest theropods ever discovered in South America. Weighing over 5 tons, it belonged to a terrifying group of dinosaurs called megaraptorids, known for their massive size and elongated arms with long sickle claws built to tear flesh from bone. But Maip was something else — it appeared near the end of the Cretaceous, long after most of its kind had vanished, as if nature itself had resurrected a monster for the final act of the dinosaur age. Its ribcage was unusually wide and powerful, giving it an enormous chest — likely supporting immense muscles for breathing and movement. That oversized frame wasn’t just for show. It meant Maip could move fast, breathe deep, and kill without stopping. Its serrated teeth were over a foot long, and its skull was designed to crush and slice in the same motion. Even its name is rooted in terror — Maip comes from a Patagonian myth about a shadowy spirit of death, said to suffocate the souls of its victims. That’s how scientists chose to describe this animal — not just as a predator, but as a force of destruction. Maip macrothorax was not a scavenger. It didn’t lurk in the shadows, it was a peak apex hunter. Truly earning its name as “the shadow of death.” #maipmacrothorax #maip #jurassichorror #prehistorichorror #prehistoricworld #cretaceous

#maipmacrothorax was a massive carnivorous dinosaur that lived about 70 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous in what is now Patagonia, Argentina. It belonged to a group of predators called megaraptorids, known for their long bodies, powerful arms, and large curved claws. What makes Maip macrothorax special is its huge chest cavity—its name literally means “evil spirit with the large chest.” Paleontologists believe it may have reached 9–10 meters (30–33 ft) long, making it one of the largest megaraptorids ever discovered and likely the top predator of its ecosystem in southern South America. Unlike tyrannosaurs, megaraptorids like Maip probably relied more on their speed, agility, and powerful forelimbs to hunt prey. Its skeleton suggests a light but muscular body, built for active predation. Many scientists think predators like Maip macrothorax filled the ecological role that Tyrannosaurus-like dinosaurs occupied in North America, dominating their environment as apex hunters.

(REQUESTED) MAIP Maip is a genus of large megaraptorid theropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) Chorrillo Formation of Santa Cruz, Argentina. The genus contains a single species, M. macrothorax, known from an incomplete, disarticulated skeleton. Maip may represent the largest megaraptorid known from South America, and possibly the world.[1] The generic name, “Maip”, references a malicious being in Aonikenk mythology that is “the shadow of death” that “kills with cold wind.” The specific name, “macrothorax”, is derived from the Greek “makrós”, meaning “large”, and the Latin “thorax”, meaning “chest”, in reference to its large thoracic cavity.[1]

Maip macrothorax was a massive predatory theropod that lived around 70 million years ago in what is now Argentina. Discovered in 2019 and named in 2022, Maip was part of the megaraptorid lineage — known for long claws, lightweight builds, and serrated teeth. Estimates suggest it measured over 30 feet long, making it one of the largest known megaraptors. Its name, Maip, comes from a demon in Aonikenk mythology believed to roam the Andes — a fitting title for a predator that ruled the shadows at the end of the dinosaur age. #CreepyTok #TheAbyss #FoundFootage #DarkReels #AnalogHorror #MysteryReel #ViralArchives #CursedTape #BackroomsVibes #WeirdCore #RepostVault #ParanormalPages #TikTokRepost #DarkSideOfTheWeb #JarvisFiles #MaipMacrothorax #Megaraptorid #PrehistoricPredators #AncientArgentina #CretaceousPeriod #ExtinctGiants #PaleontologyFinds #FossilDiscovery #DinosaurFacts

— Pr. @rogeriozayit_ & Pr. @keilazayit Onde a dúvida morou, Deus plantou fogo. 📍 Seminário de Cura Interior — Campinas 📲 Suporte espiritual: Secretaria Andressa — (11) 91072-0225 🙌 E se prepara… porque esse mover não passou.
