WOODEN CUTTING BOARD MASS PRODUCTION IS MORE ENGINEERED THAN IT LOOKS A wooden cutting board is not just a glued panel. In mass production, the real challenge is process control. Consistency. Hygiene. Crack prevention. Quality starts long before the final oil finish. A typical production flow looks like this: • Raw material selection Hardwoods such as beech, maple, or bamboo suitable for food contact are preferred. Grain structure and defect control directly impact durability. • Controlled drying Moisture content is reduced to approximately 8 to 12 percent. Without this step, warping and cracking are inevitable. • Lamella cutting and pressing Wood strips are cut and pressed using food safe adhesives. Pressure, glue distribution, and cycle time define structural integrity. • CNC machining Edge profiling, juice grooves, and handle geometries are machined with high repeatability. • Multi stage sanding Surface smoothness influences both hygiene and perceived quality. • Oiling and final finishing Mineral oil or natural oils protect the surface and enhance longevity. In high volume production, efficiency is driven by: Optimized press cycles Yield and waste control Automated sanding lines Panel presses and CNC nesting for material efficiency A simple product on the outside. I tried selling earrings for $52 for the first year I made resin jewelry & sales were okay, but not great One day randomly I priced some earrings at $42 just on a whim and they sold sooo much better 🙌🏻 I realized the $40 range was the ‘sweet spot’ for my earrings so I started making 80% of them in that range I still make items I love, I just make them within a price range people actually see as being worth it to them And here’s what happened: 👉🏻 sales tripled. From an average market of $365 to consistently hitting $1000+ per market 👉🏻 my average sale actually increased from $26 to $45 because people were more likely to buy the higher priced item now that they saw it as worth it 👉🏻 my production sky-rocketed. Since people wanted smaller + simpler designs at a lower price that’s what I made and those designs are easier so I can make way more = I can sell more.
