On my hub, I double the springs. Meaning I run two springs per pawl instead of one. Why? Adding a second spring increases the spring preload and outward force on each pawl. That means: -Faster and more aggressive pawl engagement -More consistent pickup when landing hard or punching the pedals -Sharper, more immediate power transfer Mechanically, you’re increasing the force that pushes the pawl into the drive ring, which improves engagement reliability, especially under explosive loads like street trial moves. More tension = more positive engagement.
