Lawmakers from the Connecticut Senate Republicans say they stood alongside parents and advocates to protest what they described as the silencing of public testimony during a recent hearing at the Connecticut General Assembly. Republican lawmakers accused Democrats of limiting debate on issues they say are deeply personal to many residents, including medical freedom, parental rights, homeschooling, and the Second Amendment. According to Republican leaders, the Public Health Committee ended the official hearing before hundreds of residents who had signed up to testify were able to speak, particularly on topics related to vaccine mandates. After the hearing concluded, Republicans hosted an additional forum that continued past 1:30 a.m., allowing individuals who had traveled or waited online for hours to still share their views. The numbers were posted online for the world to see, turning “public health” into public shaming. That ends now. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. just repealed this policy, and CMS Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz said it plain: Medical decisions should be based on the wellbeing of the patient — not government payouts. After signing the Department of War order in the Oval Office, President Trump commented on Florida's push for "medical freedom" by ending vaccine mandates in the Sunshine State. "Look, you have some vaccines that are so amazing, the polio vaccine, I happen to think, is amazing," said President Trump. "A lot of people think that COVID is amazing, you know, there are many people that believe strongly in that, but you have some vaccines that are so incredible, and I think you have to be very careful when you say that some people don't have to be vaccinated."
