1.leave enough space around the master model. thicker silicone walls help keep the block mold stable and reduce warping during resin casting. 2. seal your mold box properly before pouring silicone. even small gaps can cause leaks and waste material during the mold making process. 3. plan your mold cut lines early. thinking about how the silicone mold will open helps reduce seam lines and makes demolding resin figures much easier. 4. cut the mold in a zigzag pattern when opening it. this helps both sides lock back together properly, keeping the resin casts aligned during casting. good mold making is one of the most important parts of art toy production. a clean silicone mold leads to cleaner resin casts, better seams, and more consistent handmade art toys. #atomtoys #arttoy #resincasting #siliconemold #resinfigure

Bricking your phone but make it brutalist! I have often wondered how heavy a cookie jar lid would need to be to impact snacking habits. I find myself checking my phone more often than I need too so I made a concrete and glass brick coffin that sits in my desk. I used @lego to make a full sized prototype and hot glued it down with my @ryobitoolsusa I used mold star 30 from @smoothon to make the molds and now I can produce this novel habit reinforcement device at home. Silicone mold making will be part of the concrete workshops @highdesertdesignweek in early August and these will be for sale at the @makerranch2.0 store which is coming soon.
