The foliage is on fire at Bretton Woods, and there’s no better way to see it than from the treetops.   Hello everyone, I’m Celine McArthur at the Omni Mount Washington Resort & Spa.   Our canopy tour is taking leaf peeping to new heights with nine ziplines, two sky bridges and three rappels across three hours of White Mountain adventure.   Not a zipliner? No problem. Take a gondola ride to the top of Rosebrook Lodge and enjoy the view at a slightly more relaxed altitude.   The skies may be gray, but the foliage is putting on a show. And it’s happening NOW.   Head to BrettonWoods.com to book your adventure. Or, if you’re watching this on your phone, grab a friend’s phone and scan the QR code in the video.   We’ll see you here. 🍂
🍁Most Scenic Train Ride in New England⤵️ Comment “TRAIN” and I’ll send you the exact fall train ride 🚂 The Mount Washington Cog Railway is the World’s FIRST Mountain Climbing Cog Railway to the Top of the Highest Peak in the Northeast. Opened to the public in 1869, this historical scenic ride to 6288’ summit of Mount Washington ride is a perfect way to experience the beauty of this region during Fall.🍁 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐕𝐄𝐋 𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐒 ✦ There are two kinds of cog-railway rides that you can book: Bio-diesel (environment friendly) or Steam-Powered (traditional & highly popular) ✦ Starting price is $54 for adults but higher prices for Steam- train. ✦ While the train runs throughout the year, the ride to the Mount Washington Summit is until Oct 25, 2026 and later only to Waumbek Station during winters. ✦ The train leaves from Marshfield Base Station which is located in the heart of the White Mountains, New Hampshire ✦ On the ride to the summit, a guide will tell you all about the sites along the way & historical information about the Cog. ✦ For best seatings, opt for the left side of the train (Seats C, D & E with E being the window!) with Row 1 being the best for views! ✦ While there are several cog rides throughout the day, opt for last ride (4pm) for best sunset experience during Fall. ✦ Be prepared to dress in layers as it can get very cold at the Summit. ✦ No two trips will be same : My first trip it was snowing on top while on second it was much more pleasant! ✦ Once you are at the summit, you get 360° panoramic views of 5 US states, Canada & the Atlantic Ocean on a clear day! ✦ On top, you’ll also find restrooms, a gift shop, Post office and a small snack bar! ✦ The entire experience takes 3h with 30-40 mins time to enjoy the views at the summit. ✦ On their website, you can also check weather forecast & live-camera views to help you plan your visit! 100+ mile visibility from the top of Mount Washington as we descend from the summit on the @cograilway. A must-visit for any New Hampshire vacation! #scenic #newhampshire #mountain #railway
We heard the first snow had fallen high in the Presidential Range in New Hampshire, so naturally we had to go find it. ❄️🍂 Watching the Cog Railway climb out of peak foliage and disappear into a snow covered Mount Washington felt like watching fall turn into winter right before our eyes. The first snow always feels like a little reminder of all the good things to come. 🚂❄️🎄
One of the BEST views in the White Mountains 👇🏼 📌 SAVE for a future epic hike! Mount Hight summit has 360° views of the Presidential Range (including Mount Washington!), Wild River Wilderness, and Baldface Range. AND it’s soooo much less crowded than many of the popular White Mountains summits. Hike to Mount Hight 👇🏼 🥾 Challenging 🌶️ 1️⃣ Starting at 19 Mile Brook Trailhead + 10 miles lollipop loop + 3,700 ft elevation gain (and 3,700 ft loss) + Hike 19 Mile Brook Trail → Pass Carter Notch Hut (can refill water here) → Carter-Moriah Trail to Carter Dome (wooded, limited views) → Continue .2 miles to the wide-open summit of Mt. Hight → Carter Dome Trail → 19 Mile Brook Trail + Shortest way up, but includes a steep push from the Hut to Carter Dome summit!
+ Check off Carter Dome from the NH 48 4000-Footer list! + 🚗 Where to Park: 19 Mile Brook Trailhead (Route 16, just north of Jackson, NH) Very Challenging 🌶️🌶️ 2️⃣ Starting at Pinkham Notch Visitor Center + 11 miles round trip loop (ish) + 5,000 ft elevation gain (and 5,500 ft loss) + Hike the steep Wildcat Ridge Trail → Pass Carter Notch Hut (can refill water here) → Carter-Moriah Trail to Carter Dome → Continue .2 miles to the wide-open summit of Mt. Hight → Carter Dome Trail → 19 Mile Brook Trail + Check off Wildcat A, Wildcat D, and Carter Dome from the NH 48 4000-Footer list! + 🚗 Where to Park: Pinkham Notch Visitor Center (Route 16, just north of Jackson, NH) and either reserve an AMC Shuttle or hitchhike the 5 miles from the 19 Mile Brook Trailhead back to the Visitor Center. If you’d like to break it into multiple days (like we did!), we highly recommend pre-booking a night or two at the @appalachianmountainclub Carter Notch Hut to use as your basecamp! ⚠️ Keep in mind these are NOT beginner hikes! In fact this area is some of the steepest and most challenging hiking (lots of up AND down) in the White Mountains and should be taken with caution and clear knowledge of the local terrain, weather conditions, and your own physical ability. Have you hiked to Mount Hight!? ⛰️
