25 years into my career as a Body Language Expert, pain and somatic specialist, I can tell you this: exercise manuals, anatomy textbooks, and standard certifications only cover half the picture. After dozens of courses spanning Pilates, somatic work, and movement therapy - it hit me that biomechanics alone weren’t solving complex physical patterns. The real breakthrough happened when I looked beyond the physical exercises. What 25 years of movement methodology taught me: • Read non-verbal cues: Assessing a client’s body language and movement patterns before they know I’m reading them gives me the true patterns present in their movement • Look past rigid protocols: Adapting your session to how a person processes stress, not just how their joints align. • Bridge the gap: Combining structural movement with somatic awareness to allow for lasting physical shifts. This exact realization is why I created the Body Story Method™️ an approach built for practitioners who know there’s more to client care than just teaching exercises and working with what they’re aware of.

Anyone else done doorknob therapy with their therapist? I know I have with mine! This viral audio was too good not to make a reel out of! Doorknob therapy is the phenomenon where we drop a last minute confession or bombshell at the end of our session. Sometimes it happens as a seemingly casual thing we say with our hand on the doorknob on the way out. Sometimes it’s because we happen to have a realization at the end of session, sometimes because it’s easier to be vulnerable when we know that the session is over and we won’t have to dig deeper on it. Have you experienced this? It’s so interesting thinking about what we feel able to open up about in the last few minutes of session! Moments like these are a normal part of therapy. And can be a great way to make progress as your therapist can ask you about it during your next session. If you struggle to talk during sessions here are some things to try: - make a list of things you’d like to discuss between sessions (you could even email it to your therapist) - engage in art therapy, movement therapy, EMDR or other non verbal types of therapy or processing - talk to you therapist about it! Ironically some of the best convos can happen when you talk about not knowing what to talk about!

Frozen shoulder can make even simple daily movements feel frustrating. From reaching overhead to putting on clothes or sleeping comfortably — stiffness and pain can slowly start limiting your movement. 😣 This condition usually progresses through different stages, starting with increasing pain and gradually leading to restricted shoulder mobility. The good news? Gentle, consistent movement can help improve function over time. 💪 Here are a few exercises often used to support recovery: 🔹 Pendulum swings 🔹 Isometric internal & external rotation 🔹 Sleeper stretch 🔹 Shoulder flexion with pulley The key is patience and gradual progress. Small improvements in mobility and strength can make a big difference in how your shoulder feels day to day. ✨ 👉 Save this for later (frozen shoulder, shoulder stiffness, shoulder mobility exercises, physiotherapy exercises, shoulder pain relief, shoulder rehab, movement therapy) #shoulderpain #physiotherapy #mobilitywork #shoulderpaintreatment #rehabilitation
Have you heard about somatic exercises? 🤔 These are a type of movement therapy that involves slow, deliberate movements to increase awareness and control of one’s own body. These exercises can help alleviate tension, pain, and other physical discomforts caused by habitual patterns of movement and stress 😮‍💨🥱 Stick with @betterme.health.coaching for more!
We need to change the way and the things we teach our children. To help improve learning and assimilation, we must apply universal techniques instead of singular types of learning. Universal Design for Learning involves using auditory, visual and kinesthetic, which helps the child learn using multiple senses. They can learn with their eyes, ears and hands. Therefore, children with learning disabilities can actually pass their exams. For example, a dyslexic child can pass their exams with the aid of a scribe and a reader. Have you tried combining all three forms of learning? Our multidisciplinary pediatric centre opens soon, we'll offer speech, behaviour and movement therapy. Follow @pbsbmc for more
