I had conversations with 100 strangers across two of the world’s longest locked-down cities, Melbourne and Buenos Aires, about what it meant to reconnect after the pandemic. This project eventually took me further: to Patagonia and Rio de Janeiro, continuing the same experiment across different places, cultures and communities. I’ll be sharing what I learn along the way. Anthropologist Mauss spoke about reciprocity and gift giving as a binding force is a society in his work 100 years ago. In Western cultures, based on monetary economic models, we seem to have, if not forgotten, at least become oblivious to its importance in our everyday relationship-building. We seem to think that a monetary compensation is sufficient exchange for goods, resources and services we receive. According to Mauss’s theory, however, this extractive practice builds no relationship, and it could be compared to a friendship in which one party constantly feels like they are giving much more than the other, in economic, moral or ethical level. When I feel like a local rather than a tourist, there is a sense of belonging, an equal relationship to the others. I am able to contribute in a meaningful, deeper than monetary level to the society. As a tourist, what is my contribution really? I leave money for the services I consume, I can have a short interaction with the locals, but inevitably, I seem to take more than I receive. As a tourist, am I that friend who never invites the others for a dinner? Am I the friend who shows up to parties without a gift to the host? #slowtravel #timetothink #interrail #regenerativetourism

By creating films and campaigns around social impact — "A NEW DIMENSION" brings women’s stories from the margins to the mainstream. These stories are not portrayed as victims, but as leaders, caregivers, and change makers. Through high-quality, authentic storytelling, it strengthens the credibility of NGOs and social initiatives—helping them connect emotionally with stakeholders, partners, and funders. #womenempowerment #socialdevelopment #socialimpact #ANewDimension #purposedrivenstorytelling
