Two people each invest $10,000 in the same index, the Nasdaq-100. One buys QQQ. The other buys TQQQ, which aims for 3x the daily move of that same index. Ten years later.
QQQ: $10,000 to $73,406. Up 7.34x.
TQQQ: $10,000 to $295,388. Up 29.5x, which is roughly 4 times what QQQ did, not 3.
That extra edge comes from daily compounding working in TQQQ's favor during a strong, mostly upward market. But that same mechanism is a double edged sword. In 2022, QQQ had a rough but survivable year. TQQQ dropped 65 percent in that same year. Not 3 times QQQ's loss, worse than that, because daily leverage compounds losses the same way it compounds gains.
This is the real tradeoff with leveraged ETFs. They are not a simple multiplier, they are their own thing, capable of outperforming the math you would expect on the way up, and punishing you harder than you would expect on the way down.
If you hold QQQM instead of QQQ, this still applies to you. Same index, same holdings, just a newer, cheaper share class that only goes back to 2020.
We are not telling you to buy TQQQ. We are showing you what actually happened to $10,000 in each one over the same 10 years, same index, same market.
Would you have held TQQQ through that 65 percent year, knowing what came after?

3.5 years ago I was working customer service for $10/hr. Meanwhile all my college friends in Miami were affording things I couldn't even think about touching. Something had to change.
So I got into technical trading. Failed. Failed again. Technical trading just wasn't giving me the edge I needed. Then I found quantitative trading - built my own algorithms, went deep into the AI behind finance - and finally started seeing real, consistent profits.
1.5 years ago I built my own quantitative trading community from that exact edge.
My life is only measured by how many people I can help find the same clarity I found - real strategy over gut feeling💚

Comentá ESTRATEGIA y te paso mi estrategia de Nasdaq con la que llevo 3 semanas sin tocar SL.
The Nasdaq crashed harder than almost any major index has in modern history. 15 years just to break even.
In March 2000, the Nasdaq closed at an all-time high near 5,049. Then it fell. Not for a quarter, not for a year. For a decade and a half.
A $10,000 investment at the 2000 peak became:
📉 Lowest point (2002): $2,207
🇺🇸 Nasdaq (today): $51,168
Read that again. Someone who bought the top in March 2000 watched their money lose 78% by October 2002, then waited until April 2015 just to see the price they paid. That is The 15-Year Wait: a person who invested at 25 was 40 before they were made whole. Nearly half a career gone before breakeven.
And breakeven wasn’t the end of the ride. The next decade brought new records, a hard reset, and then the AI boom that pushed the index to fresh highs. Even once you’re finally made whole, the market doesn’t stop testing you.
This is why “the market always comes back” needs an asterisk. It usually does. But “eventually” can mean fifteen years, and even after you get there, the ride isn’t over.
