If you copied your privacy policy from another website… you might have already exposed your company. It seems like the easy thing to do, find something online, tweak a few words, and move on. But your privacy policy is supposed to reflect what your business actually does with data. Not what another company does. The problem is, when you copy, you often end up saying one thing publicly… while doing something completely different internally. For example: Your policy says you don’t share data with third parties. But you’re using KYC providers, payment platforms, or analytics tools. That’s already a problem. Because when it comes to data protection, that gap between what you say and what you do is where risk starts. A privacy policy is not just a document. It’s how your company communicates trust. #dataprotection #ndpr #compliance #startups #startupnigeria founders businessnigeria corporatelaw legaltips techstartup privacy riskmanagement entrepreneurlife governance businessgrowth

would have missed this event 🫠 but thankfully, I didn’t. And yeah its the Day 1 of the Nigerian Digital Public Relations (NDPR) conference 💃 Trust me it was nothing short of enlightening. From conversations on influence, culture, and AI, to powerful insights on storytelling and reputation every speaker left me with something to think about. Firstly i would love to say a very big thank you to our Ever engaging Host Mr. Babajide Benson @babajeeday Thank you so much Sir. Moving on to the Key takeaways: Mr. Franklin Ozekhome @franklinozekhome spoke on culture and Influence, he also said influence is the architecture of attraction.” Mr. Seun Ogunleye spoke on creating content that truly drives awareness. Mr. Babajide A Sipe spoke on maximizing the difference AI makes in communication. Mr. Soji Akinlabi @sojiakinlabi spoke on the intersection of podcasting and culture. Mr. Ayeni @iamayeniekundayo spoke on experience, religion, and reputation and he said “It takes visibility to own a reputation.” One thing I deeply admired was how Mr. Ayeni, spoke on religion, emphasized openness and shared how he learned contenting for seven years at Daystar Church. A reminder that growth knows no bias. Huge appreciation to NDPR and Unilag Prad Club for the opportunity to be part of such an impactful experience. That’s a wrap for Day 1 — Day 2, I’m ready. 💃 Videography by @filmbyoluwatofunmi #ndpr #publicrelations #digitalpr #ndprs10 #ndprsummit10 #communications #Storytelling #pr #unilagpradclub #eventhighlights #psychology
The government has announced the scheme to manufacture Rare Earth Permanent Magnets in India. The goal is to build a local value chain spanning the conversion of NdPr (neodymium-praseodymium) oxide into sintered NdFeB ( neodymium-iron-boron ) magnets. These are critical to sectors such as automobile, electronics, wind energy and defence. The REPM production includes mining, beneficiation, processing, extraction, refining to rare earth oxide, conversion to metal and alloys, and finally magnet manufacturing. The proposed scheme will incentivise facilities capable of undertaking the final three stages: converting rare earth oxide to metal , metal to alloy and alloy to magnet. June 18: E-Commerce and Online Business Regulation NO REFUNDS, DM FOR PRICE, DELIVERY IN 2 DAYS WHEN YOU KNOW IT’LL TAKE 1 MONTH. Can you really get away with hiding your prices or refusing fair refunds? Under Nigerian law — not really. If you’re running an online store or selling on Instagram, you’re not exempt from consumer protection laws. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA) has rules that apply to YOU — the small business owner, the IG vendor, the ecommerce startup. Here’s what the law expects: 💜 Be Transparent: Display clear pricing. No shady “DM for price.” 💜 Deliver What You Promise: If you say delivery in 3 days, make it 3 days — or state otherwise. 💜 Allow Fair Refunds: “No refund” policies? FCCPA calls them exploitative. You need a proper return/refund process. 💜 No Fake Claims: Don’t advertise what you can’t prove. “100% organic”? You better mean it. 💜 Collecting customer info? NDPR applies. You need a privacy policy and secure data handling. Bonus: Registering with CAC boosts buyer trust and unlocks better payment gateways. 💜 Selling online isn’t an escape from rules. It’s your storefront — and Nigerian law is watching. I’m Bray, and this is Day 18 of 30 Days of Legal Game for Creatives and Founders.

Nigeria is a regional power in Africa and a middle power in international affairs. With that influence comes responsibility — especially in the digital economy, where personal data is the new currency. That is why NDPR — the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation — matters. Here’s the context: – Born in 2019 under NITDA. – Now enforced by the Nigeria Data Protection Bureau (NDPB). – It covers everyone — not just banks and telcos. Startups, SMEs, NGOs, hospitals, schools, fintechs, even churches. If you collect data, you’re in. What does compliance mean? ✔ Get consent. ✔ Collect only what you need. ✔ Secure it. ✔ Train your team. ✔ Respect people’s rights. If you collect data — emails, patient records, sign-up forms, or registers — NDPR applies to you. 🔹 Compliance in Practice: – Get consent before collecting data. – Collect only what you need. – Secure it with encryption and access controls. – Train your staff. – Respect people’s rights to see or delete their data. 🔹 The Global Tie-In: In Europe, GDPR fines run into millions for non-compliance. NDPR is Nigeria’s step in that same direction. The enforcement may be young, but it is tightening. ⸻ Lesson: NDPR isn’t a burden. It is a business advantage. In an economy where trust drives adoption, compliance builds credibility, confidence, and long-term growth. #ndpr #gdpr #dataprotection #nigeria #digitalafrica #founders #startupnigeria #businessadvantage #trust #dataprivacy #bigcheqconsulting #africatech #compliance #growthstrategy
