Today I took the National Physical Therapy Examination, the board certification exam for physical therapists.
After 3 years of PT school, countless practice questions and hours studying, it all lead to today.
The exam contained 225 questions, and instead of your standard multiple-choice exam, you had to pick the BEST answer, which is sometimes hidden among other plausible answers.
I will get my results back in five business days. Here’s to hoping I pass!

Hello there study-buddies!
You might not get direct questions on scales & outcome measures on the exam but you’ll still find questions talking about it. That's why it's imp to know them.
Here are 5 imp neurology scales.
ASIA- measures level of SCI.
GCS- measure a person’s level of consciousness, particularly after brain injury, scoring from 3 to 15.
RLAS- assess cognitive and behavioural level of persons following a TBI
Ashworth- measures spasticity and muscle resistance during passive stretching in patients with central nervous system lesions
FIM- measures a patient’s disability and need for assistance with daily activities.
If you want us to make similar one for cardiopulmonary. Leave us a “❤️” in the comment down below.
Scales, outcomes, medical, neurology, license exam, tips, must know

Before starting to actually study, I thought I needed to study 8+ hours a day…
but honestly, anything past 4–5 hours? I won’t retain anything.
I thought I had to memorize everything,
but the NPTE is way more about patterns and clinical reasoning.
I thought I should save practice exams for the end…
but those are actually the MOST helpful part of studying. (Taking my first one this weekend and scared af…)
And the biggest one?
I thought everyone else knows more than me…
turns out, everyone feels that way.

A lot of repeat test takers don’t fail because they aren’t working hard enough.
They fail because after failing… they become more extreme.
More pressure.
More exhaustion.
More punishment.
And eventually they confuse suffering with progress.
But the NPTE is not conquered through exhaustion.
It’s conquered through precision, awareness, and adjustment.
Sometimes failing isn’t telling you to do more.
Sometimes it’s telling you to approach the process differently.

🎙️ "Most of the experts that you think are experts also don't read the research." - @brookbushinstitute 📚⚠️
This clip breaks down why outdated ideas can survive on board exams and in graduate education:
👉 National exams take years to build
👉 Updating them is slow, expensive, and regulated
👉 Question writers still bring their own blind spots
👉 Many so-called experts are not reading research
👉 Many are not treating patients or measuring outcomes
👉 That is how outdated ideas stay in the system
Outdated content is rarely one bad question. It's usually a system that changes slower than the evidence.
