Nature Journaling is using words, pictures, and numbers to collect and record your nature observations, questions, connections, and explanations in a notebook. This fun practice helps you slow down, pay attention, notice more, and get curious about the wonder and beauty around you. Check out this short Quick Start Guide to Nature Journaling animation, which includes everything you need to get started nature journaling. It covers the basics (a definition, using words/pictures/numbers, and I notice/I wonder/It reminds me of), plus info on tools, places to journal, and more. Nature Journaling is coming to Nature Art Circle on Patreon. This is an ongoing community project exploring mark making, painting, and texture with nature materials — natural inks, watercolors, pressed plants, seasonal finds, and layered papers. Every other week I share a new journal page and invite you to share yours. All skill levels welcome. Coming soon. I started paying attention. Nature journaling can be different depending on what you’re called to — my version includes recording and reflecting on the world around me: sometimes it’s far-off wild places, but most of the time it’s my backyard. Noticing the details all around gave me an entirely new perspective. I would love to see you use this audio with your own nature journal so we can share our findings and celebrate our amazing planet. 🌿 Let’s make nature journaling trending! If you want to learn more about this impactful practice and start your own journey, listen to my new special episode on the Learning from Nature podcast. I had a wonderful conversation with @johnmuirlaws, who is a global leader in the nature journaling community and co-founder of the @wildwonderfoundation 💚 (found wherever you get your podcasts). #learningfromnature #naturelovers #naturejournaling #naturenerds #inspiredbynature
Nature journaling during fieldwork is one of the best ways to slow down and notice the things around you!
🍃 Slow down and let nature inspire your creativity. 🌿✨ Every leaf, flower, and tiny detail has a story waiting to be sketched. Nature journaling is more than drawing—it's a way to observe, create, and connect with the world around you. 🌼📖 💚 Save this post for your next journaling session! 🖊️ Which would you journal first: 🍂 Leaves, 🌸 Flowers, 🦋 Butterflies, or 🌳 Trees? A new sketchbook page is completed now and I’m mighty pleased with how it turned out! 🤩🌿🌼. I tried to be intentionally loose, a little abstract like with these varied botanical sketches - it was a lot of fun and creative play to do something new and different in my sketchbook this time 😍💫. I’m taking it slow this month, just reconnecting with my sketchbook practice and savoring these tiny pockets of joy and carefree creativity these days 💚. . . . #rohiniartworld #ilovetopaintpetals #happycolorflorals Keywords- sketchbook artwork, sketchbook pages, seattle artist, flower painter, nature journaling, garden journaling, floral artist, painting flowers, botanical sketches, botanical artwork, mixed media artwork, watercolor art, pen and ink artwork
Did I mention you also get new art tutorials every month, and a letter from me that has a nature journaling prompt AND access to a nature journaling community???
I made a new friend yesterday. Her name is Purple heart, but she also goes by Purple spiderwort. Nature journaling is a beautiful blend of science, poetry, literature and art. It can be the foundation of a scientific education, building the habits of observation and attention. The watercolor technique used here—brush drawing—trains anyone to have an artist’s hand an eye. If you've never tried Nature Journaling before, I encourage you to give it a go. It's a grounding & wonder-ful way to connect with nature and take your curiosity deeper. A few years ago, I teamed up with the wonderful @johnmuirlaws to bring a course on Nature Journaling to members of Nature Studio. It shows you just how to approach it from an arty (rather than scientific) perspective. So far, over 2,500 members have signed up to take the course (like all tutorials and courses I share, it's included with membership to Nature Studio). 📘 💙 . . . . . #naturejournaling #natureconnection #natureart #learnwatercolor #learntopaint #learningtopaint
