Tom Misch’s Tiny Desk performance is a beautiful example of how groove, musicianship, and restraint can come together to create something captivating. 🎶 Known for blending elements of neo-soul, jazz, funk, and electronic music, Misch brings a relaxed yet highly intricate style to the NPR Music stage. His performance highlights the importance of pocket, tasteful guitar phrasing, and the chemistry between musicians. A reminder that great music often lives in the details: the timing, the tone, and the spaces between the notes. #TomMisch #TinyDesk #NPRMusic #NeoSoul #Jazz

Daniel Caesar - Get You (feat. Kali Uchis) (2017) A slow-burning R&B masterpiece that feels like a quiet confession in a dimly lit room. The second that deep, pulsating bassline drops under a lush Fender Rhodes chord, time slows down, pulling you into one of the most hypnotic grooves of the modern neo-soul era. Serving as the lead single for his critically acclaimed 2017 debut album Freudian, ”Get You“ announced Daniel Caesar as a major force in modern R&B. Teaming up with Kali Uchis, the track trades over-the-top vocal gymnastics for raw, intimate vulnerability and an intoxicating, laid-back feel. The brilliance of the song lies in its masterfully spacious production. Produced by Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett, the track leaves immense room for BadBadNotGood’s Chester Hansen on bass and Alexander Sowinski on drums to lay down an impossibly tight, unhurried pocket. Daniel’s gospel-trained, silky vocals float effortlessly over the warm instrumentation, creating a stunning vocal interplay with Kali Uchis’ dreamy, sultry delivery. ”Get You“ went multi-platinum, earned a Grammy nomination, and redefined the sound of late-2010s alternative R&B. It stands as a timeless modern classic—a track that proves true intimacy and deep groove will always hit harder than flashiness. #danielcaesar #getyou #kaliuchis #freudian #neosoul
