� نپنتس؛ شکارچی زیبای دنیای گیاهان! 🪰 نپنتس (Nepenthes) یکی از شگفت‌انگیزترین گیاهان حشره‌خوار دنیاست. برگ‌های این گیاه به کوزه‌هایی زیبا تبدیل شده‌اند که با ترشح شهد، حشرات را به داخل خود جذب می‌کنند. پس از ورود، حشره به دلیل سطح لغزنده کوزه راه فراری ندارد و گیاه با استفاده از مایع و آنزیم‌های داخل آن، مواد مغذی مورد نیاز خود را تأمین می‌کند. برخلاف تصور بسیاری، نپنتس برای انسان هیچ خطری ندارد و تنها از حشرات کوچک تغذیه می‌کند. این گیاه بومی مناطق گرمسیری با رطوبت بالا است و برای رشد ایده‌آل به نور غیرمستقیم، رطوبت زیاد و آبی با املاح کم نیاز دارد. اگر به دنبال گیاهی خاص، متفاوت و چشم‌نواز هستید، نپنتس بدون شک یکی از جذاب‌ترین انتخاب‌هاست. 🌱

Nepenthes edwardsiana, often considered the holy grail for carnivorous pitcher plant collectors, this species was for many years so rare plants would sell for hundreds of dollars for a specimen the size of your finger nail, or thousands of dollars for a plant this size. Now, due to years of expert propagation, the species has become common enough in cultivation that it is widely seen among serious highland Nepenthes collections. Y’all… I brought my Nepenthes Pitcher Plant to an outdoor event and apparently the WASPS got the invitation too. 😭😂 They are literally SWARMING this plant! And this is exactly why I love educating people about carnivorous plants. I’ve heard them called “wicked,” “evil,” even “demonic”… meanwhile, this plant is simply doing what nature designed it to do. 🌿 Nepenthes produce nectar that attracts insects to their pitchers. Some get a little too curious, slip inside, and well… lunch is served. 🐝😂 Nothing wicked about it. Nothing demonic about it. Just nature being absolutely fascinating. O REI DOS ANTÚRIOS! DIGNO DE SEU TÍTULO! Anthurium veitchii... o que é "veitchii"? . Com certeza você já viu nomes científicos de plantas com o epíteto específico <veitchii>, como esse Anthurium veitchii, o Platycerium veitchii e a Nepenthes veitchii. Os epítetos possuem significados e, nesse caso, é uma homenagem a uma pessoa ou mesmo uma família inteira. O final com duas letras “i” representa essa homenagem. Assim temos adansonii, plowmanii, veitchii, por exemplo, que significam "do Adanson", "do Plowman" e "do Veitch", respectivamente. Sobre esse lindo Anthurium rei, nativo da Colômbia, fui pesquisar sobre esse tal de Veitch e encontrei algo surpreendente! Sua família foi uma das mais importantes pela coleta e distribuição de plantas para a elite da época. Em minhas pesquisas, encontrei um texto de Toby Musgrave, que, pelo que entendi, tirou as informações do livro “Seeds of Fortune – A Gardening Dynasty” de Sue Shepard, 2003, Ed. Bloomsbury. Fiz um pequeno resumo pra vocês. Olha só que interessante: “Para viveiristas astutos, a segunda metade do século 19 foi uma época de ouro, e ninguém foi mais astuto do que a família Veitch, cuja dinastia foi fundada por John Veitch (1752-1839), escocês, viveirista e especialista em árvores. Desde pequeno já demonstrava aptidão para a jardinagem, mas foi seu filho James que fez o sobrenome da família se destacar. O golpe de mestre dos Veitches, e um símbolo de seu prosperidade, era empregar caçadores de plantas para coletar exclusivamente para seus viveiros. Selecionando cuidadosamente os destinos, o viveiro foi capaz de coletar novas plantas para alimentar o apetite insaciável da elite horticultora, que queria, e estava preparado para pagar preços exorbitantes por um suprimento constante de raridades para serem exibidas”.
