The iconic Pilsen Dia de Los Muertos ofrenda is back up for the 6th year 💀🌹 Isabel, a Pilsen resident of more than 40 years, built the 17-foot tall ofrenda that features over 420 photos of people (plus 40+ pets) and hundreds of intricate decorations. With a new theme and fresh decor every year, her yard and garden has become a must-see destination to celebrate and remember the lives of loved ones. This year, the theme is the stairs to Heaven. She puts incredibe care into organizing the photos by grouping together couples, families, and local business owners, and even organizes the display based on age to help people navigate the hundreds of faces. NOTE: This is a private residence on a residential block of 19th Street near Loomis. A beautiful celebration on a beautiful fall day in Chicago 💀🌼 Saturday brought hundreds of people together in Pilsen for Día de Muertos Xicágo, the annual event hosted by the National Museum of Mexican Art to celebrate the holiday. Dozens of ofrendas dotted Harrison Park to honor the lives of loved ones from the community and beyond. The day featured cultural performances, live music, a vendor market, costumes, a projected digital ofrenda, and more.
