Nine Arch Bridge is iconic for a reason. But depending on the weather, getting there can be muddy, chaotic and slow, especially with tuk tuks. Not a reason to skip it. Just a reason to come prepared. WITHOUT KNOWING THOSE TINGS ⬇️ ❌ Skip Ravana Falls Pretty, yes… but overcrowded. 5 minutes, busloads of people, slippery rocks. ✅ Do Upper Diyaluma Falls instead ⏱️ ~45 min from Ella 🌅 Go early (before 9am) 💶 Free Natural infinity pools at the TOP, unreal views, way fewer people ✨ 🚆 The train ride most people miss Kandy → Ella = packed, booked weeks ahead ❌ Do this instead: Ella → Badulla 💶 ~€0.50 ⏱️ ~1 hour Same landscapes, almost empty carriages 👉 Sit on the right side for the best views 🌿 ❌ Don’t get overcharged at Nine Arch Bridge Some tuk-tuks ask crazy prices just to get there 🚫 ✅ Better options: • Walk ~30 min • Rent a scooter if you’re comfortable 🌅 Best time: 6:15–6:45 AM Train passing + no crowds = best photos 📸 👉 Walk past the bridge on the tracks (15–20 min): tea fields, silence, and even better shots. 🍃 Tea factory — worth it if you choose the right one If you want to understand how Ceylon tea is made, visit Halpewatte Tea Factory. 💶 3,000 LKR (~€8–9) for the guided visit Educational, well explained, and one of the most reputable factories in the area. 🥾 Little Adam’s Peak — do it backwards Ella town side = traffic jam of people ❌ Start from the 98 Acres side instead 🌄 Start around 4:30–5am ⏱️ ~1 hour hike Sunrise around 6am 💶 Free (ignore tuk-tuks) 👉 All our real, tested advice (routes, timing, mistakes to avoid) is in our Sri Lanka travel ebook 📘 No guesswork.
