I'm only going to drink on Saturday night... I'm only going to have 2 drinks... I'm not starting drinking until 6pm... I'll only drink wine not spirits... I'll be good next time... Yep I said them all! Usually in my head. I thought I was in control but in reality it was a sign to stop. Because when alcohol fits naturally in your life, you don’t need constant negotiations with yourself! For a lot of us grey-area drinkers, the rules are the clue. Not that we’re broken. Not that we’ve hit rock bottom. Just that alcohol might be taking up far more headspace than it deserves. And the moment you step away from it? All those rules disappear 🤍🤍🤍 Follow if you're curious about a life without alcohol 🤍
From first pours to final sips, the energy at Brilliant Gastro this weekend was something else! Real conversations, great food, and cocktails - just without the alcohol. This is what drinking looks like now. @brilliantgastro #drinkdifferent #alcoholfree #cocktails #alcoholfreecoktails #alcoholfreeevents
Taking a pause from drinking doesn’t mean you have to give up ~really~ good cocktails. Just ask @gingerrickey! 🍸🥃 #TimeForAGoodTime #nonalcoholic #cocktails #nabeer
Boundaries aren’t rude. They’re self-respect in action. 👇 Not drinking isn’t the hard part. Handling other people’s reactions is. So instead of overexplaining… try simple, calm clarity: • “No thanks, I brought my own.” • “I’m not drinking right now.” • “I’d prefer we don’t keep alcohol in the house for now.” • “Thanks for the invite I’ll skip this one.” No drama. No apology. No long justification. The more confident and neutral you are, the less space there is for pushback. Remember: If someone feels uncomfortable with your boundary, that discomfort belongs to them not you. Alcohol-free living isn’t just about removing a drink. It’s about strengthening your standards. And every time you hold a boundary, you reinforce the identity of the person you’re becoming. Ever notice bars always give you salty snacks? Not random. It’s designed. Salt makes you thirsty. Alcohol already dehydrates you. Put the two together and you’re drinking faster without noticing. You take bigger sips, order sooner, and suddenly you’re two drinks ahead of where you thought you were. The snacks aren’t the problem. The pace is. Drink slower, keep water in the mix, stay in control. Think about it. Nobody interrogates your food preferences… but choosing not to drink suddenly needs an explanation. That says a lot about how normalized alcohol culture really
No one ever regrets not drinking!! If you’re teetering on the “should I or shouldn’t I” ledge, a quick reminder it’s never worth it. The price you end up paying in regret and hangxiety is far worse than the short 30-minute euphoria buzz of the booze..trust me! 😊 #alcoholfree #sobercuriousmovement #thisnakedmind #alcoholfreelife #hangoverfree
Ever wondered why moderation keeps failing you? It’s not because you lack discipline. For many people, the real struggle is the identity and habit loop around alcohol. When drinking becomes the default way to relax, celebrate, or cope with stress, “just one drink” often turns into more than planned. Alcohol temporarily lowers your decision-making and reinforces the same cycle again and again. That’s why moderation can feel like a constant battle. The good news? When you step away from the cycle, you often discover something surprising — more clarity, more energy, and more capacity to handle life without relying on alcohol. If you’ve ever thought: “I just want to feel in control again,” you’re not alone. Comment RESET if you’re ready to start changing your relationship with alcohol. When I start working with people, they ask me: “But what about moderation… is it actually possible?” It’s one of the biggest questions in behaviour change. For years we’ve been told that moderation is the “right” approach — that everyone should simply learn to have a little bit and stop there. But in practice, moderation management works brilliantly for some people… and not at all for others. For certain habits, a clear boundary is easier than constant negotiation. For others, flexibility is exactly what allows change to stick. The real discussion point isn’t whether moderation works. It’s who it works for. The old one-size-fits-all model — rigid plans, universal rules, the same strategy for everyone — is slowly dying out. What’s replacing it is something far more effective: approaches built around the individual. Because sustainable change doesn’t come from forcing everyone into the same box. It comes from finding the approach that actually fits the person. #sober #onesizefitsall #moderation #change #soberlife
Most people don’t drink for the taste, except that you’re a connoisseur of wines and brandy. They drink for the feeling. To relax. To switch off. To escape their thoughts for a while. And that’s very human. But the cost usually shows up later- in you sleep, your energy, your recovery. Be honest about the reason.
I love an N/A cocktail - not a juice box, not flavored water. A zero proof cocktail with body and character. My biggest gripe with most N/As? Great flavor, no mouthfeel. Or a beautiful texture with zero complexity. Rarely both. There are a few quick tricks you can use at home to fix that - and I’m breaking them down in my next few posts as I build my entry for the @littlesaintsco competition.
Alc sales maybe declining but the beverage industry is growing, specifically the NA category. @nielseniq reported that the NA category was close to reaching $1 Billion dollars in retail sales with a 22% year-over year growth. Traditional alcohol brands have also noticed the shift in consumer behaviour. Iconic brands like @grolsch_global @asahisuperdry_ca and @peroni_ca (one of my favorites) have introduced alcohol free beers in recent years The Music industry also wants in: In 2025, @livenation made an investment in to @drinkhiyo a non alcoholic functional seltzer. Which they will be introducing to their venues this year. Restaurants and hospitality industry are seeing a drop in alcohol sales, one of their most profitable items. Many are still resistant on introducing them; if you haven’t added NA options to your menus, you are truly missing out.
