PSA: Maintenance is coming to Hawk at Santiago Oaks by OC Parks.
According to OC Parks this is about sustainability — improving drainage, reducing erosion, and keeping the trail accessible long-term. Not a redesign or sanitizing.
Steep trails evolve. Technical features will return.
Please respect the primary line and avoid creating new lines.

You know we build trails… but do you know why?
Professional trail building isn’t just about shaping dirt, stacking rocks, and floating through berms.
It’s about people.
What we’re really building is connection.
Places where riders, families, volunteers, and neighbors all feel part of something bigger… a community growing in the same direction.
Because when trails grow, communities grow too.

What if a trail did more than connect places? What if it could protect and uplift them?
The vision for a connected trail system in El Dorado County isn't just about miles on a map. It's about a network that reaches across our county—from North to South, East to West, and from the West Slope into the Tahoe Basin and beyond. It’s about weaving together a landscape that is still healing from wildfire and ensuring the people who live here have the safety, connectivity, and local vitality they need to thrive.
In partnership with Mother Lode Trails Stewardship, our vision for connected trails represents:
Real Protection: Creating essential connectivity that supports disaster preparedness and forest health—giving our homes and communities a better layer of defense.
Restorative Access: Reconnecting locals to their own backyard in all directions, ensuring that the healing of the forest and the well-being of our people happen in tandem.
Uplifting Local Economies: Generating opportunities for small businesses to grow right where they are—transforming our backcountry into a sustainable engine for local work and a place where families can build a future.
This is where Our EGG comes in.
We exist to help ideas like this take root—by breaking down silos, opening conversations across agencies, and connecting the dots between vision, data, and funding. Sometimes that means securing support for large investments in local infrastructure. Sometimes it’s helping smaller, local efforts grow strong enough to stand on their own.
A Partnership Built to Deliver
We couldn’t ask for a better partner in this than Mother Lode Trails Stewardship. Their drive, creative vision, and "get it done" spirit align perfectly with our mission at Our EGG. They don’t just see a trail; they see a bold future for our region, and they have the passion to make it real. Together, we aren't just planning—we are building.
Many voices. Shared land. One resilient future.
That’s the Econ-system at work—where the health of our land, the safety of our families, the well-being of our neighbors, and our local economy all rise together. 🌲

Thank you to the 40+ volunteers who showed up on Sunday to help carve in a brand new trail to be called Thunder Chicken. Because of your time and energy, we had one of our most productive trail workday ever, and got the entire trail cleared and rough cut. Yay for new single track!

30 miles on Mt. Tam are on the table! 🚲
The Marin Municipal Water District is proposing to open watershed trails to bikes, and site walks like this are where the future gets shaped 🌲
If you care about access, show up! 🗣️
Trail building starts long before tools touch the ground.
Sustainable trails (especially in our climate) begin with smart placement, clear flagging, thoughtful sightlines, and intentional drainage.
The early decisions are what determine whether a trail lasts for decades or needs constant repair.
That’s how good trails happen.
