Jumping doesn’t matter if you can’t land ✈️ People often struggle with landings on jumps for a variety of reasons. It can be an issue of strength, stability and or control. The ability to create strong stable postures is critical in effectively and safely landing especially in sports and training. In the same theme as my previous videos we are utilizing constraints to produce the desired effect. This band forces your knees in so on landing if you stretch the band you will properly engage your glutes and your legs will be in a much more stable position. Not only is it an effective teacher but it works very well in warming up muscles for more explosive exercises later in the workout. Try it out and get your landings SOLID!!! #jumping #coaching #constraints #landing #kneevalgus

If you think jumping is just about how high you can go, you’re missing the point. When we add overspeed with a long band pulling you in, we’re challenging your body to handle force at higher velocities. Now it’s not just about producing force — it’s about how well you can absorb it, organize it, and control it on the way down. That’s deceleration. That’s eccentric strength. That’s tendon stiffness. That’s elastic foot and ankle control. That’s stabilization under speed. That’s performance and durability. Train landing as a skill. Because in sport, it’s rarely the jump that gets you hurt — it’s the landing you weren’t prepared for. #GRITAthleticTraining #OverspeedTraining #Deceleration #EccentricStrength #LandingMechanics

Most people think jump training is a form of plyometrics. It’s not. If you train them the same… You’re leaving athleticism on the table. Jump training: Slower off the ground. More controlled. No pre-load… just pure concentric output. You’re building force from a dead stop. Plyometric training: Quick off the ground. Violent. Reactive. Built on the stretch reflex. You’re training your body to absorb and fire instantly. Same goal? Jump higher. Different methods? Completely. Neither is wrong. But if you don’t understand the difference… You won’t maximize either. Train with intent. ⚡️ #plyometrics #jumptraining #athleticperformance #verticaljump #explosiveness

Context for Nerds ⬇️🥸 Horizontal to Vertical Jumps For athletic populations, progressing into a variety of Change of Direction training is the cornerstone of good athletic preparation. If this is your introduction to this style of training, this is likely to be the most straight.. forward variation to dabble in compared to lateral (sideways) options. You can mix and match to meet your athletic needs, but pick one and stick with it for a while so you can see some progress. The most common issue you'll find with any jump training is windmilling your arms (out to the sides or overhead, fully extended) and over jumping your ability to produce force in the secondary direction. The first is easy to spot while looking at the arms (think about gathering at your sides and punching up toward where you want to travel, forward or vertically). The second is more subtle, but if you get a good broad jump while the following vertical jump is quite small, jump a shorter distance and you'll likely find the height of the subsequent vert jump improves. Finding a balance between the two jumps so they both see some benefit should be the starting point to progress from. Pick a distance that's repeatable for 2-3 Sets, 2 Reps per set (1 each direction) and rest as you would for any power exercise (2+min, more like 3+). These are great to superset with some upper body training but I like to do them on their own at the start of a session after a general warm-up and a couple ramp-up sets to get into a groove. If this is something you want to develop, having it on its own will let you dedicate focus on improvement and rest more appropriately.
