Had to come back to West Virginia to see about a sick dog. • I figured I’d head over to my neighbor’s house and play some clawhammer banjo while I was here. • The wild kitties seemed to like it. • This is a variant of an old tune from this area (Monroe County, WV) call Bettie Lichens. • Quiz: do you know who the source for this tune is? • Drop a comment and send this video onto a buddy. ✌🏻 🪕 • • • #ClawhammerBanjo #OldTimeMusic #AppalachianMusic #WestVirginia #FolkTradition

Written in the 1930s, but still ringing true today. Which side are you on? Share this if you still believe the power belongs to the people, not the government. I recorded this take live on the porch here at the Girardeau House. (More news about that coming soon!) I decided to keep the audio raw—crows and all—because some songs aren’t meant to be polished. They’re meant to be felt. The driving rhythm of the clawhammer banjo has always been the percussive heartbeat of the mountains, and “Which Side Are You On?” is a line in the sand that never fades. This is the start of a new chapter. I’m heading back to my roots to find the music that actually matters in times like these. What protest anthem is your favorite? Let’s talk in the comments. 👇 #FolkMusic #AppalachianMusic #ClawhammerBanjo #OldTimeMusic #BanjoPlayer
