Temperance Street. Toronto’s Financial District. Tucked into the heart of Toronto’s Financial District, Temperance Street is a small street with a big-city story. Surrounded by towering office buildings, historic architecture, restaurants and hidden laneways, it offers a fascinating contrast between old Toronto and the modern downtown skyline. In 1962, Toronto approved a plan that would have completely transformed downtown. It was called the St. Lawrence Centre, a massive cultural megaproject designed to create a single destination for the arts. The proposal included theatres, concert halls, galleries, arts schools, and even a potential broadcasting headquarters. But to build it, the city planned to demolish nearly everything between Church Street, Jarvis Street, Front Street, and Richmond Street. That included the iconic Gooderham Building and the historic St. Lawrence Market. What makes this story even more surprising is that the demolition actually started. Buildings along Front Street were cleared before the project was finalized. Entire sections of the neighbourhood disappeared in anticipation of what was supposed to be one of the most ambitious cultural developments in Canada. Then the costs exploded. Funding fell apart. Public support was weak. And the entire vision collapsed. What was meant to be a multi-block arts district was reduced to a single building, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts. The empty land left behind eventually became Berczy Park. The Look 👀 It all starts with my new friend @briangonerogue (owner of @hairgoneroguebb ) who came across my Insta stories, noticing I needed help dressing for an event. This kind human spoke with his team and a bunch more generous friends jump in to help create my whole look for the Shine Talent Group social. Thank you Brian for everything. Especially the laughs but specifically the hair. Bella’s favourite part of my whole look was my styled pony. And we are loving the hair styling journey Brian has sent her on recently. The Fit 👠 @julianne_costigan & her team gave me my first ever styling session from her gorgeous studio in Old Toronto. It was a full Pretty Woman moment for me and I will forever cherish the valuable styling lessons I gathered from her team. I chose a cardigan and pant by @bashparis which Julianne generously gifted me. I feel a thousand miles tall in these pants and the buttery cardigan can be worn so many ways! The MVP of the night was the @aldo_shoes heels. Their magical insole cushions had me comfortably standing for 5hrs! This is a world record for me, a mom who lives in slippers and runners. The Make-up 💄 @samcomptonmakeup Need I say more. I don’t, but I will. Sam, Thank you for perfecting the glam look I have always loved, a smokey eye with highlighter in all the right places. Also, your photography skills are on point! Thank you for all the pictures in just the right lighting. #ootd #glam #fallfashion
