Foodie Finds in Olney - Buckinghamshire The historic town of Olney is just North of Milton Keynes, close to the Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire borders, and is well worth a visit. Famous for pancake races on Shrove Tuesday since 1445, there is a great cafe dedicated to pancakes @olneypancakeparlour Visit the Cowper and Newton museum @cowpnewtmuseum commemorating the famous residents who also wrote the hymn ‘Amazing Grace’ On the Market Square there is also a great butchers @olneybutchers, wine shop @thewinecellarcompanyolney (edit: now closed) and fantastic outdoor seating to the front and back of the @bullhotelolney for a drink in the sun. Don’t forget @harvest_of_olney, wonderful traditional greengrocer and cheese shop, tucked down Fountain Court. Cowper & Newton Museum – This museum celebrates the lives of poet William Cowper and abolitionist John Newton, who lived in Olney. You can explore their stories and enjoy the gardens. 2. Olney Market – Held on Thursdays, this local market is a great place to experience the town’s community atmosphere and pick up fresh produce, crafts, and unique items. 3. The Olney Pancake Race – If you visit during February, you can witness or participate in the famous annual Pancake Race, which has been held in Olney since 1445. Have you pancake at @olneypancakeparlour 4. St. Peter and St. Paul Church – This historic church, with its impressive architecture, is worth a visit. It’s also where John Newton, co-author of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” served as a curate. 5. Walk along the River Great Ouse – Enjoy a peaceful walk or picnic along the scenic riverside paths, perfect for nature lovers. 6. Emberton Country Park – Located just outside of Olney, this park is great for outdoor activities, with lakeside walks, fishing, and picnic spots. 7. The Olney Pancake Race has taken place today and the winner was Eloise Kramer! 🏅🥞 Dubbed the oldest recorded pancake race in the world, the run dates back to 1445 and the War of the Roses, and has taken place every year since it was revived in 1948. Folklore says the Olney tradition started in the 15th Century when a harassed housewife, rushing to attend church on Shrove Tuesday, ran to the service with a frying pan still in her hand. Einstein has continuously been our largest hospital contract! 🔥And we are SOOO GRATEFUL🙏🏽 I have been working my butt off since Sunday but ya’ll are sloooo worth it! 🫶🏽😘 That said, we’re loaded up AGAIN and back at it! 🗓️: Monday February 16th- Friday February 20th! 📍: Einstein (Olney) Hospital Cafeteria 🕚: 11:00am-2:00pm! It could be a @parkrunuk or an early morning one before work or anything in between. We just started doing a regular evening run in Olney on Wednesdays at 7.15pm and if you’d like to join us, send me a message and I’ll add you to the group. You can be a total beginner or training for a race and there is always someone at a similar pace to push you. Now that the weather is getting nicer, there are no excuses not to get out there, so let’s go! #running #training #exercise #fitness #happiness

A huge thank you to @nicolemorrison for hosting, sharing her beautiful products, and bringing Sweetpea into our community.
