I know this looks a funny lil skit, but the message behind The Lorax is more relevant than ever today! It's important to speak for the trees and protect our environment against greedy people like The Once-ler 🎩👎 🪵🪓 There are currently 200,000 acres of the Amazon Rainforest about to be destroyed. This land will be sold to international subcontracted companies who plan to bulldoze the trees for logging. Evidently, this will lead to mass deforestation and irreversible destruction of natural habitats, even in places where Uncontacted Tribes have lived for thousands of years 😢 But there is still a way for us to stop it! I follow a handful of environmental conservation pages, such as @paulrosolie who runs a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called JungleKeepers.org which partners with the indigenous peoples of the Peruvian Amazon. The goal of the JungleKeepers is to purchase the land before the loggers do, and establish a protected National Park to prevent illegal logging and land grabs. So far, they have successfully protected 120,000 acres of rainforest! 🌿 However, they urgently need more support to achieve this goal, so please check out the work of @paulrosolie and the ▶️ JungleKeepers.org ◀️ site to support & read more about their mission. FYI, I understand there are a lot of bad things going on in the world right now, where each demands time and funding to battle and this post is meant to focus specifically on environmental conservation of the Amazon Rainforest. If there are other causes you believe in and want to stand for, you can always make your own posts to raise awareness. I cannot possibly talk about every single problem in the world in one post so please don't criticize me for not talking about X and Y. I just thought this would be the perfect video to open dialogue on this topic! The Onceler: @llyonafang The Lorax: @juicy.jacobb Thanks to my bestie @gothboy_blackout for making the top hat for me! This was a deceivingly difficult costume to make. 😅 I had no idea of it would work but decided to go for it. I found a pair of old plastic toy glasses and decided to hot glue the entire frames with yellow felt, making sure the eyebrows and mustache stood up and most importantly that they were comfortable enough for Aiden to wear all day. The theme for this year’s Book Character Day at school was the Earth (which also meant sustainable costumes) But since I was about to sew an entire orange onesie for him, we decided to keep it simple and comfy with an orange hoodie & sweatpants (Thank you Shein & Lazada) which he can wear afterwards. And yes I’m one of those moms that keep old boxes, wrapping paper and odd bits of packaging just in case there’s an emergency… like having to make a Truffula Tree of course! (Add some yellow paper, a bit of sharpie pen, left over feather boas from NYE and voila!) See my previous reel for Leila’s Once-ler costume! #bookcharacterday #bookcharacter #diycostume #thelorax #lorax #onceler
