BOOK REVIEW: 📚Antihero by Gregg Hurwitz- (Orphan X book 11) – Thank you to @netgalley for the #gifted copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily and all opinions are my own. Out of all the Orphan X books that I have loved along the way this one is my favorite. Evan takes on a case to help locate a woman who was sexually assaulted. He also discovers that it was filmed, and after watching the film the emotions he thought he didn’t have come boiling to the surface. Working with Joey the young Orphan he had taken under his wing he realizes that now that she is older, he is scared for her. He starts to imagine what happened to this woman happening to her and he starts to lose focus. Evan has also made a promise to the young woman who was victimized that he won’t kill the perpetrators making a deal with the devil in the form of a federal prosecutor who has vowed to take him down. To protect this woman and fulfill his role in finding and taking these people down he enlists the help of another Orphan, Candy who was also was once trying to take him down and wound up severely burned in the process. Candy and Evan have formed a sort of truce, and it comes out later that she seems to be following in his footsteps by helping those in need. Seeing these hardened assassins who were trained at a young age to lose their humanity find it and struggle with it is brilliant. Evan struggles the most since his mentor never wanted him to lose his humanity and he held on to more than most. Now finding himself trying to win back his relationship with his neighbor he is trying to be more open and share his emotions but he is very awkward and finds it hard to be around normal people. Its so humanizing to watch him struggle and realize that he can’t be an island anymore, that there is no shame in asking for help and in having people around him he can count on. ❓QOTD: What’s the most unusual food you’ve ever tried, and did you like it?

This book dropped on Tuesday and has cracked the top 700 in espionage thrillers. While these are not James Patterson numbers (yet), I'm doing well. Virtually every scene in this novella-length CJ Hawk origin story is something I lived or saw. BOOK REVIEW - ARC COPY NET GALLERY PUBLICATION DATE: 4/07/2026 This fast-paced thriller was a very interesting read with an enjoyable plot. What I liked about the book: ⭐️ I liked the two main characters and how they built an alliance in the midst of chaos and survival. ⭐️ The plot was interesting, fast-paced, and intriguing. ⭐️ The writer was a descriptive and articulate storyteller. ⭐️ The scene-setting was beautiful and provided imagery. Downside of the story: ⭐️ I found that the additional character Bianca was a bit confusing in the middle of the story. ⭐️ I think they could do prequels with a backstory of each character; it would make the story come together stronger.
