How did one engineer take down Google for 4 hours? Google went down for four hours because a single technician unplugged every fiber optic cable going into an entire data center in 13 minutes. Alex breaks down how Google’s carefully engineered redundancy works (multiple cables, separate modems, individual power supplies, battery backups), why none of it mattered against one guy following what he thought were the maintenance instructions, and why the warning to stop couldn’t reach him in time because he’d already unplugged the cables the warning would have traveled through. #Google #Technews #DataCenter #Outage #Networking

Bad weather can show up fast — and sometimes the power goes with it. 🌧️⚡ That’s why I like to stay prepared. Whether I’m keeping the evening going during an outage or stepping outside to check what’s happening, the Olight ArkPro is ready when I need it. 🔦 A little preparation can make a big difference when the unexpected happens. #Olight #ArkProReady #AmericanPrepared #Preparedness

Not every day starts this early, but it’s not unusual on the day of a big project like this one to have the whole crew wake up a little earlier. This helps minimize the impact on local businesses during a power outage and also helps our team members beat the heat on a hot summer day. This was a much needed update to one of the older sections of Idaho Falls, and our guys really knocked it out of the park! This video was an over simplification of the amount of work our project managers and foremen put into this job, so credit where credit is due. It went very smoothly for having so many moving parts, and limited access to additional resources while on the job site. If you have any questions about what you see, don’t be afraid to ask! #wheelerelectric #project #dayinthelife #electrician #bluecollar

You know your UPS is doing its job when everyone else notices the outage before you do. 😂⚡📺 The SOLIX S2000 delivers a 10ms switchover, helping keep your TV and essential electronics running when grid power suddenly disappears. No reboot. No scrambling for the remote. Just keep watching. #portablepower #portablepowerstation #ankersolixS2000

🚨Comment LINK & I’ll send you the 55 gallon water tank + water supplies I think every household should have! A 55 gallon tank gives you a serious backup when a boil water notice, frozen pipes, wildfire, major storm, prolonged power outage, infrastructure failure, water shortages or another emergency disrupts your normal water supply. It can also give you a reserve while waiting for repairs, dealing with contaminated water, or simply avoiding the panic of trying to find bottled water when everyone else is buying it. Because you can go without a lot of things during an emergency—but water isn’t one of them! For storage, keep your tank in a cool, dark place around 50–70°F, away from direct sunlight, freezing temperatures, heat, gasoline, pesticides, and other chemicals. Keep it on a stable, level surface that can safely support the full weight—a full 55-gallon tank weighs roughly 459 pounds, so don’t put it on an elevated platform or shelf unless it’s specifically designed and rated for that load. #watersupply #homehacks #amazonfinds

Power outage where? My server didn't even notice. UPS kept every container running, no downtime. #homelab #selfhosted #homeserver #ups #docker #linux #sysadmin #nas

You don’t think about emergency lighting… until the power suddenly goes out. 😅⚡ These rechargeable light bulbs are such a practical thing to have around the house. They work like regular bulbs but can keep providing light during a power outage, so you’re not left scrambling for flashlights or trying to find your phone in the dark.

Ever have the power go out and suddenly realize how dark your house REALLY gets? 😭💡 I tried these rechargeable emergency light bulbs and I wasn’t expecting much… but they can keep providing light during a power outage, and they’re also handy for camping or emergency situations. One pack and you’re a lot more prepared when the lights unexpectedly go out. 🔦🔥 #usa #emergencylights #poweroutage #campinggear #homeessentials
