Aircraft engineering is crazy The Boeing 737 landing gear compartments (wheel wells) consist of the Nose Wheel Well beneath the flight deck and the Main Wheel Well located in the belly of the fuselage between the wings. ​Main Wheel Well (Belly) ​Open Design: Unlike most commercial jets, the 737's main wheel well does not have full enclosure doors. The outer rim of the tires sits flush with the underside of the fuselage, using aerodynamic rubber seals to close the gap. ​Key Hardware: Houses the two Main Landing Gear (MLG) shock struts, retraction actuators, uplock/downlock mechanisms, and walking beams. ​System Hydraulics & Equipment: Contains System A and Standby hydraulic reservoirs, the landing gear selector valve, alternate brake valves, engine fire extinguishing bottles, and wheel well fire detection loops. ​Nose Wheel Well (Forward Fuselage) ​Enclosed Doors: Uses mechanically linked, fully closing doors operated via control rods connected to the nose strut. ​Key Hardware: Houses the single Nose Landing Gear (NLG) shock strut, retract actuator, lock mechanisms, and nose wheel steering control metering unit. ​Features: Contains mechanical spin brakes/snubbers that stop the nose wheels from spinning upon retraction into the compartment #pilot #studentpilot #aircraft #aviation

Okay, this was honestly SO cool. ✈️🥹 Before we got on the plane to Brazil, the pilot told us, “Once everyone is on, come up to the cockpit and bring Luca. We want to show him around.” So obviously, we did! 😂 And I have to say… I’ve never actually been in a cockpit before. It’s always been that mysterious place behind the closed door that you never get to see, so even I was like a little kid walking in there. 😂 But watching Luca’s face and seeing how excited he was made it even better. They let him wear the captain’s hat, gave him his own wings, showed him all the controls, and let him sit in the pilots seat and take it all in. 🥹✈️ And of course, I had to show them the sign for “pilot.” 😂👐🏼 It was such a sweet interaction, and the pilots were so kind and genuinely excited to include him. It really was just one of those unexpected little moments that made the trip extra special. We weren’t expecting it at all, and somehow it turned into one of my favorite memories. Also… can we talk about how cute Captain Luca is?! 😂👨‍✈️✈️❤️ So grateful to those pilots for making the effort to give him such a cool experience. These are the moments we’ll remember. ❤️ thanks @americanair
