The painting mistake I wish I understood sooner 👇
I used to think I needed better paint…
turns out I just needed the right roller.
This will literally change how your walls turn out AND how fast you finish.
Save this so you don’t waste paint (or your sanity) on your next project 🫶

Painting tips no one tells you but make ALL the difference 🎨👇
• Wipe walls with a dry microfiber cloth first (dust matters more than you think)
• Lightly sand between coats for that smooth, pro finish
• Paint toward your light source to avoid streaks
• Add a tiny splash of water if your paint feels thick or draggy
• Wrap rollers in plastic & stick in the fridge instead of washing
• Cut in one wall at a time—don’t outline the whole room
• Use your phone flashlight to catch missed spots 👀
• Dampen your roller before dipping for even coverage
• Mix your paint (even one can!) for consistent color
• Don’t trust dry time—trust how it feels
Save this for your next project 🤍 #fyp #DIYHome #homeprojects

Here’s the secret 👇
✔️ Tape your edge like normal (blue tape = your best friend)
✔️ Paint a THIN layer of the original color (this seals the edge 🤯)
✔️ Let it dry, then go in with your new color (I used Behr Gravelstone 😍)
✔️ Peel the tape right away for those PERFECT lines
It’s giving ✨professional finish✨ without the professional price tag
Once you try this… you’ll never paint the same again 😏

Paint color gets all the attention.
But the finish matters just as much.
The same color can look completely different depending on the sheen. And it also changes how well it holds up over time.
Here’s the quick breakdown 👇
• Matte – soft, flat, almost no shine. Great for walls and ceilings. Also helps hide small imperfections.
• Eggshell – slight sheen. More durable and easier to wipe down, so it’s a common choice for main living areas.
• Satin – smooth with a light shine. Durable and easy to clean, which makes it great for trim, doors, and cabinets.
• Gloss – high shine and very tough. Best for woodwork and metal surfaces that need to handle wear and cleaning.
So when you’re choosing paint, don’t just think about the color.
The finish plays a big role in how that color actually looks and performs.

Why are we still using the standard size ones? My husband found this 18 inch roller and the 23ft pole at Home Depot and it’s been such a help.
It’s double the size and cuts your time in half!
Seriously, this is the only way we’re getting this diy home done anytime soon 😂 . Professional painters have to share the wealth! Love this tip.

Stop washing your paint roller before scraping them first… it’s costing you more than you think. Look and tell me different!
Most people wash their roller straight away
→ and send loads of perfectly good paint down the drain.
Before you rinse it, scrape it.
A simple multi tool (under a fiver) pulls loads of paint back out of the roller - paint you’ve already paid for - meaning 1. You save money and 2. It won’t take you half the time to clean the roller!
This is one of those small habits that completely changes how you paint.
Small fix. Big difference next time you paint.

If your paint touch-ups always look patchy or obvious… this is why.
✨️Comment PAINT for the $8 pack of brushes I keep buying because the quality is insane & price is great (Make sure you’re following so it comes through) 😉
The problem isn’t your paint color...
It’s the texture.
✅️Walls are rolled, not brushed… so when you use a brush for touch-ups, it lays flat and stands out.
Here’s what to do instead:
Use a sponge and lightly dab the paint onto the wall. This mimics the roller texture so it blends seamlessly.
No more repainting the whole wall.
No more obvious patches.
Just a clean, invisible finish every time. 🤍

Me and my mom @royalorchidbylydia repainted the living room in our house and we had so much fun! 🙂 we learned a few things while painitng and wanted to share them
The 3 S's of painting as they call it! Smear, spread and smooth
✨️ Smear is the part where your roller is filled with paint and you just want to apply it on the wall.. dont worry if its dripping wet 🙂
✨️ Spread is the part where you want to spread that recently applied paint as far as you can while using long strokes... some people like to go in V or W strokes... your choice
✨️ Smooth is the part where you want to go over one last time and not apply alot of pressure and just even out the paint for a nice finish

Stop doing this with paint rollers…
If the roller is dripping, you loaded too much paint.
Do this instead:
1️⃣ Dip lightly
2️⃣ Roll tray ridges
3️⃣ Even coat
Your walls (and clothes) will thank you.
