As I embark on another summer trip to France, I couldn’t help but share some snippets of magic I’ve filmed over the years. 4 summers ago, I started to document my travels and personal life on Super8 film. My good friend Christian let me borrow his camera for 3 weeks when I was in France and after I got the film back, I was fully hooked. I feel like this video is a perfect a little glimpse into how I see and spend my days in Paris. This city has brought me so much curiosity, nostalgia, beauty and creativity. I’ve never felt as connected to a place as I have here. I first visited when I was only 19! This will be my 14th trip, I believe?! Documenting your own life is such a special thing to do. Even if you just have an iPhone, take those photos; don’t be afraid of asking someone to take a little photo or video of you in between so you remember how you were, at this age, in this moment, really living in it. I find that we rush through life sometimes. Stopping and taking in a view or just hitting pause on the GO GO GO! mentality we all have is crucial to our mental health. It’s also our memories, not anyone else’s. You don’t have to post on socials either if that’s not your thing, just do it for you. I think that is my phrase of the year “do it for you” - seems to fit how I’m feeling at this point in my life. Trying to live life fully, freely and with passion and adventure. I’m 8 weeks into French classes! Trying to actually do the things I’ve been saying I’m going to do for years. A reminder to try new things and never second guess your ability to absolutely thrive. It feels full circle to be sharing these very special slices of memories.
