Curious how many people fall into A, B, or C…
If you’re an A or C, that’s exactly what we work through in the Beginner Sewing class at @quiltingforcommunity.
If you’re a B, reading patterns and construction is what we cover in Intermediate Sewing next month.

Did you know this? 🧵✨
Many people learn that you should never sew over pins… but there’s an interesting detail: when a pin is placed the right way, it’s often possible to sew over it without breaking your needle.
The secret is how the pin is positioned.
If the pin is placed perpendicular to the seam (across the fabric), the sewing machine can often pass over it because the needle slides right next to the metal.
But a quick note:
this doesn’t mean it’s always recommended. With delicate fabrics or when sewing at higher speeds, it’s still safer to remove the pins to avoid accidents.
Still, placing your pins correctly can save time and make sewing much easier, especially on larger projects.
Little tricks like this can make a big difference at the sewing table. ✂️🪡

What questions do you have as someone looking to sew? 🪡
Sewing patterns are full of confusing instructions and verbiage that you may not know as a beginner
& how are you supposed to find actually good sewing tutorials that are taught by professionals?
We hope to mend that issue with our sewing patterns.
After teaching for 14 years we decided it’s time to share what we know with the internet. These patterns have been used in our in person classes for over a decade now so we have learned what could go wrong and how to teach it best.

Most people jump straight into sewing… without realizing there are foundations you NEED first 😅
✨ Before you sew, you should know:
• How to read patterns 📄
• How to choose & cut the right fabric ✂️
• Which needle works for each fabric 🧵
• What supplies actually matter (especially for beginners!) 🧰
• And how to use your sewing machine properly ⚙️
Because once you understand these…
💡 Everything starts to click

You sit down to sew, feeling excited… and then you hit that one little thing that 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.
The thread won’t cooperate.
The stitch looks off.
Something just isn’t working.
And suddenly you’re stuck; not because you can’t do it,
but because you don’t even know what to ask.
So you try to figure it out on your own, scrolling, searching, second-guessing…
And the project gets pushed aside. 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻.
This is exactly why I created The Sewing Circle.
A place where you don’t have to figure it out alone.
Where you can ask your question, get a real answer, and keep going.
If you're done with trying to figure it out on your own, comment UNSTUCK, and I will send you the link to join us when the doors open again in May. 📩
Because sometimes the only thing between “unfinished” and “done”
is having someone there when you get stuck. 💛
What’s something that’s stopped you mid-project lately?
