Benefits of pavers
There is quite a few benefits of paving over concrete, for example.
- let’s knock out the obvious one.. they are way cooler lol
- easier to repair
- easier to match
- more design choices/ creative freedom
- 3x longer life time
That’s just a few. One really cool thing about pavers is you can even add on paved pathways or patios to existing concrete and it always kinda flows.
They are more expensive. I do have some added benefits to outweigh the higher price point.

Day 1 started with renting a skid steer from @homedepot to excavate the area and getting truckloads of pavers and sand delivered. Then came weather delays, muddy chaos, and us questioning every life decision.
By Day 2, we rented a plate compactor from The Home Depot Tool Rental and honestly, these rentals are the only reason a project this big feels DIY-able for us. Being able to reserve everything online made the process super easy.
Then came weed barrier, leveling sand, screeding with PVC + string lines, and realizing sand is offensively heavy. (My back is still recovering.)
After a very long 12-hour day, we finally got all 400 sq ft of pavers laid and it’s already starting to feel real. Next up: cuts, edging, and building the outdoor kitchen because I have a very pretty grill arriving soon that I’m way too excited about. 🔥
