Due to the special occasion (ICPS in Leiden this weekend, I'll be there Sunday!) I'll be posting some work in progress one-pic-a-day timelapses these days.
Starting with this Pinguicula laueana.
Moved to a slightly brighter spot and started a timelapse, slightly inspired by @masterchefalkmaar
Due to pings growing incredibly fast, this timelapse has only been going for 24 days.

I know, I know… CasaPlants has a random plant problem 😂🌱
Succulents? Yep.
Cacti? Of course.
Aroids? Always.
Hoyas? Definitely.
Orchids? Apparently I’m obsessed now too 🥳
And then there are my pings… another obsession I clearly don’t need to explain 😅
DM me if you want this ping or one of its pots!

Pinguicula cyclosecta is one of my most favorite Mexican Pinguicula, especially because it is the only known species that gets purple leaves 💜
Depending on the exact location form and of course your parameters like light and temperature the color ranges from silver to an intense deep purple. It can also only appear in the margins or take over the whole leaf 🍃💜
But! It can be tricky to get it to switch it's leaf form. That's usually the moment when P. Cyclosecta dies for me at least. After many years of having this plant I think I found the sweetspot when it comes to watering in this transition phase 😎

We’ve been propagating Pinguicula gigantea since 2022. Along the line I noticed a few individuals with a different phenotype.
The one that looks like heliamphora is relatively new and most likely unstable.
The ones with wavy leaves does retain it’s appearance for the next few leaves after acclimating, but reverts to normal as the plant matures.
The later would be a nice variety if it decides to become stable. Time will tell.

Pinguicula x “Lucid Dreamer” is a new introduction for 2026! This spectacular complex cross produced such a multicolored, dynamic flower that we struggled to even describe it! It starts out in bright fuchsia tones with darker spots, a white dewy throat and a bright cherry-red spot just below that! As it ages those same colors deepen into plum-purples with light venation in the petals. We can’t wait to get these under lights to see how beautifully the rosettes color up! This riotous colored flower is already a staff favorite for 2026! www.CaliforniaCarnivores.com

Completely rebuilt my oldest Pingdom (pinguicula + kingdom) in 2 hours last night.
I originally made this back in 2020 and it was overdue for a makeover (impacted soil, musty smell, etc). Took forever but I gutted everything and cleaned/sterilized the tank, carefully removing the pings first. Cleaned off all the dead undergrowth which I should have been doing all along but got lazy. I also put a fresh drainage layer & soil and added a cave and tiered planter I got from Temu 😅
