Amex Gold vs Amex Platinum… which one actually deserves a spot in your wallet? 👀
In this video, I broke down the real differences between the American Express Gold Card and the American Express Platinum Card so you can decide based on value — not hype.
Here’s what you need to know:
With the American Express Gold Rewards Card, you’re looking at a welcome bonus of 60,000 points and 4 complimentary Plaza Premium lounge visits every year. The annual fee? $250 CAD. A solid option if you want strong rewards and some lounge access without going all in.
Now step into premium territory.
The Amex Platinum comes with a massive 100,000 points welcome bonus and access to the Amex Global Lounge Collection — over 1,400 airport lounges worldwide. But that premium experience comes with a $799 CAD annual fee.
So the real question is:
Do you want solid value with lower fees… or full luxury travel benefits with maximum lounge access?
I compared welcome bonuses, lounge access, and annual fees side by side so you can clearly see which card makes sense for your lifestyle.
If you want to compare these two cards using my free side-by-side comparison tool, just comment “link” and I’ll send the comparison tool straight to your DMs.

The American Express Platinum Card Canada is one of the most premium credit cards in Canada right now 🇨🇦
With a welcome bonus of up to 100,000 American Express points, most people don’t realize the real value here.
If you redeem these points as cashback, you’re looking at around $1,000 CAD.
But if you transfer them to Aeroplan flights strategically, that value can go up to ~$1,900 CAD ✈️
That’s almost DOUBLE the value just by redeeming smarter.
And it’s not just about the points…
You get access to American Express Global Lounge Collection with 1,400+ airport lounges worldwide 🌍
A $200 dining and travel credit every year
Hotel status upgrades + premium hotel benefits
One of the strongest travel experiences offered by any credit card in Canada
Plus, American Express also gives you a pre-approval feature for this card — so you can check your eligibility without impacting your credit score.
If you travel even a few times a year, this card can completely upgrade your experience.

₹60,000 for a credit card?
That is the annual fee of the American Express Platinum Card (India).
Most people think it is crazy.
But if you actually use the benefits properly, this card can easily give you more than ₹1 lakh in value every year.
Here is what you really get.
Unlimited global lounge access
Centurion Lounges and Priority Pass lounges worldwide. Airport layovers suddenly feel comfortable instead of exhausting.
Luxury hotel memberships
Complimentary elite status with Marriott Bonvoy Gold and Hilton Honors Gold. This often means room upgrades, late checkout and free breakfast at many hotels.
Dining privileges
EazyDiner Prime membership with up to 25 to 50 percent discounts at premium restaurants across India.
Membership Rewards points
Your spending earns points that can be transferred to airline and hotel partners for flights and luxury hotel stays.
AWS and partner credits
Startup and tech ecosystem perks including Amazon Web Services credits and partner offers.
24/7 concierge service
Need restaurant reservations, event tickets or travel help. The Amex concierge handles it.
Flexible EMI and quick credit access
Large purchases can be converted into EMI instantly.
So the real question is not whether ₹60,000 is expensive.
The real question is whether you actually use the ecosystem.
If you travel even four to five times a year, this card can easily pay for itself.
Would you pay ₹60,000 for this card?

120,000 Membership Rewards points for a Business Amex, but they've changed who can apply...
American Express has just launched two of the biggest business card sign-up bonuses we've ever seen — 60,000 Membership Rewards points with the Business Gold, or a record-breaking 120,000 points with the Business Platinum. 🤯
Those points transfer 1:1 into Avios or Virgin Points. 120,000 is the largest bonus this card has ever offered.
But there's a catch: following changes in January 2026, both cards are now only available to directors of limited companies and LLP members. Sole traders can no longer apply.
The Business Gold is free in year one (then £195/yr), requires £6,000 spend in 3 months, and comes with perks like Dell credits and The Hotel Collection. The Business Platinum costs £650/yr but packs in £200 Amex Travel credit, Centurion Lounge access, Priority Pass entries, and hotel status across Hilton, Marriott, Radisson and Meliá.
Both offers run until 5 May 2026. Full details in the article — link in bio.
