The north of Austin playground every parent will be talking about. And it isn’t even open yet. Round Rock is putting the finishing touches on the new playground at Old Settlers Park and it is massive. Twice the size of the original, lake views, a separate area for little ones, swings, pavilions, and lighting so you can stay after dark. The city put $1.8 million into this and you can tell. They say all the good playgrounds are in Austin… but north of the city is seriously stacked. If you’re in Austin and tired of the same rotation, or you live in Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown, Round Rock, or Pflugerville and want to mix it up, these are some of my go-to big playgrounds when we need space and something that actually keeps my kids busy. Walnut Creek Metro Park Lakeline Park Garey Park Catherine Fleischer Park Balcones District Park Heritage Park (Pflugerville) Different layouts, different vibes, all worth the drive. If you like having a running list of solid family spots around Austin and north of Austin, follow along. I’m always out scouting.
