🌼🐝 BEE on the lookout. DYK that a pollinator census occurs every year on August 21-22? Volunteers at the Kilgore-Lewis House Gardens were buzzing with activity this morning.🔍🦋 📝 “If we don’t measure, we can’t evaluate the impacts,” said Marly Garman of the Greenville Council of Garden Clubs. “If we don’t have our pollinators to help us grow strong, healthy plants then we start to lose birds and other wildlife.”

bee! 😍 but BLUE! 🐝💙 Nature's tiny pollinator at work in my garden. 🌿 First time ko makakita nitong bluebanded bee noon namulaklak ang mga tanim ko ng butterfly pea. It made me realize, small acts matter. This little bee keeps my whole garden alive. Amazing how life works no? Nature really surprises you. #bees #nature #garden #pollinator #urbangarden

Ecological Gardening Series 🌱🌳🐛🪵🍂 This garden showcases how traditional gardeners can start adding native plants to improve their garden’s biodiversity. Allison says her garden has provided endless pollinator and bird activity to watch all year long! 🐝🦋🐦 Allison showed her garden during @haltonmgs Garden Journeys Open Days. HOW IT STARTED: Allison Hillier ripped out a blah 🥱 monoculture lawn 4 years ago. This 🌱 thriving pollinator garden is just 3 years old and has over 100 species. Unlike the original unsustainable lawn, Allison’s garden not only supports pollinators and birds, it also absorbs water during heavy rain and helps to stabilize the soil on the steep slope in front of her house. I loved exploring Allison’s garden and watching the pollinators forage. Hamilton, Ontario @allisonhillier @haltonmgs #garden #pollinatorgarden #nativeplants #lovenature #biodiversity

ETA: National Geographic said due to demand the campaign has run out of seeds! It makes me happy to see everyone wants to help the pollinators out! 🌼 🐝 ETA: To get the seeds, just google “national geographic pollinator pledge” it’s the first result and all you have to do is fill out the form! 🦋 The last time I opened an envelope on camera it pissed off 3.2 million people 😂 but this is so cool I had to share it! Thank you @natgeosociety for sending out seed packets when people sign the pollinator pledge! (I believe this is US only) 🐝 🌼 Also check out @joelsartore and the PHOTOARK project! #seeds #flowers #wildflowers #pollinatorpledge #garden

of all the summer flowers i grow and admire, my favorite by far are zinnia. they are pollinator MAGNETS, incredibly easy to harvest your own seed, broadcast in the spring and watch an infinite variety of colors and sizes bloom again and again all summer into the fall. they are technically an annual here in zone 6B but I almost always see some volunteer seeds overwinter. what’s your favorite bloom? 🌼 #gardening #ct #newengland

Monarch Migration Watch! On September 8, upwards of 200 monarchs have been nectaring on Bidens aristosa, known as Tickseed Sunflower, in the pollinator wildflower field at Huntington Reservation. This field is easily accessed from Wolf Picnic Area. We expect some of these monarchs to linger through this evening!

Name a better pollinator-friendly native shrub than Fiber Optics ® buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis 'Bailoptics', Zones 4-9)? I'll wait! This compact selection stays 5 to 6 feet tall and wide and thrives in full sun to partial shade. When it bursts into bloom in July, it's a non-stop party for winged insects. --Danielle Sherry, editorial director #gardeninspiration #garden #plants #gardenlife #pollinatorconservation
