Some U.S. national-lab postdoc postings list much higher nominal annual pay than the FY2026 NIH NRSA zero-year stipend—but these are specific openings, not a representative salary study.
For example, NIH lists a $63,480 NRSA zero-year stipend. A Los Alamos theoretical-immunology postdoc posting lists $97,000 starting pay for a new graduate. A Lawrence Livermore AI/ML computational-biology postdoc posting lists $123,048 annually and explicitly includes publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
Before signing a postdoc offer, search the lab’s own jobs page and compare the actual role, location, benefits, eligibility and facility-access requirements. The NIH figure is a stipend, not a national average university salary; postings can change or close.

🇪🇺 How to Find a Postdoc Abroad? Save this! 🧬🌍
I get so many DMs asking me, “How did you find your postdoc in Finland?” and “Where do I even start looking?” So here’s a starting point. 👇
🔎 Websites I would check regularly:
🇪🇺 EURAXESS — one of the best places to search for research jobs and fellowships across Europe. It lists opportunities from many European countries and allows you to filter by country, field and position. (EURAXESS)
🌍 Nature Careers — research jobs, including postdoctoral positions internationally.
💼 LinkedIn — follow universities, research institutes and PIs in your field and turn on job alerts.
🇬🇧 jobs.ac.uk — useful for UK academic and research positions.
🇳🇱 AcademicTransfer — particularly useful for academic positions in the Netherlands.
🇺🇸 For the US, check individual university career pages, research institutes, NIH-funded labs and discipline-specific job boards.
🇨🇦 For Canada, check university career pages and research institute openings.
🇦🇺 For Australia, university career portals and research institute websites are useful.
And one of the most underrated methods:
📩 Email the PI directly.
If you find a PI whose research genuinely matches your expertise, don't just send:
“Dear Professor, I am looking for a postdoc. Please consider me.” 😂
Instead:
1️⃣ Read their recent research
2️⃣ Identify the connection with your work
3️⃣ Introduce yourself briefly
4️⃣ Mention what you can bring to their group
5️⃣ Attach a focused CV
6️⃣ Ask if they have an available or upcoming postdoc opportunity
Also, don't rely on just one website. University and institute career pages can have positions that you won't see on every job portal.
I found my own opportunity through research networking and looking for a strong research fit, and that made a huge difference.
💬 If you're currently doing your PhD and planning a postdoc abroad, comment your country + research field and I'll make a more detailed reel on where to search for positions in your field.
Save this for your postdoc search! 🔖

Somewhere between “ask the PI” and “figure it out” is a postdoc 🤔

In a new Nature article,Prof. Dr. Hans Clevers, one of our senior leaders, offers unique insights into their important differences and vital synergies between Academia and Industry. He explains “In academia, a young postdoc can come up with a brilliant new insight ‘out of the blue’. Success in pharma often reflects long-term exposure to the complexities of drug development.”

Postdoc power 🧠 At Los Alamos, our postdoctoral scientists aren’t just doing research — they’re shaping the future of science.
Hoş geldin 🤍
Bu ilk videoda biraz kendimi tanıtmak istedim.(ABONELİK)
Ben bir bilim insanıyım. Doktoramı kanser ilaçlarını taşıyan nanoparçacıklar üzerine yaptım. Yayınlarım kanser alanında, hücre çalışmaları ve hayvan deneyleri üzerine. Şu an postdoc yapıyorum.

A postdoc in Germany isn’t just the next academic step. It’s where you start shaping the future of your field. 🔬🇩🇪
You’ll learn to lead your own ideas, question what already exists, collaborate across borders, and turn curiosity into real-world knowledge.
Along the way, you build more than a CV: you build a global network, deeper expertise, and a career with impact.
Because in Germany, research isn’t just a degree. It’s where curiosity becomes contribution.
As a PhD/postdoc I didn’t even know about this role until I saw it advertised while looking for industry jobs 🤣
The story goes like this - I applied while on maternity leave and got the job - started once I was back. And it was the best decision I’ve made in my career.
I didn’t even understand how research became real products - I guess I just thought the science spoke for itself?!
Anyway, I think this is the coolest way to build your career and I’m sharing how it works and why you should know about it 🚀

Hi, I’m Maddie 👋 I did a PhD in immunology,
5+ years as a postdoc (not including 2 maternity leaves!) and then found research commercialisation (tech transfer). Been in this space for 5 years, until recently going all in and working for an early stage biotech. I’m sharing my most strategic plays on how to build a career and develop the skills needed to become financially free from your science degree ✌🏻
Catch you in the next one!
Ps comment or DM me with a question and I’ll try answer it in a reel ❤️
