Post -punk is a broad subgenre of rock that emerged in the late 1970s when musicians moved away from the raw, traditional simplicity of punk , instead incorporating a variety of avant-garde influences . Inspired by punk energy and the DIY ethos , but determined to break with rock clichés , post - punk artists experimented with styles such as jazz , electronica , and funk , as well as the production techniques of dub and disco . The movement also frequently intersected with art and politics, including critical theory , modern art , film , and literature . Independent record labels, visual arts labels, multimedia performance labels, and fanzines emerged.

✨Beautiful Skin✨ Anyone remember Beautiful Skin? I remember when this came out everyone was so hyped to hear a new band like this and they are considered one of the bands who help kick start the post punk revival. Thankful to a record store clerk in Berkeley, CA who put me on to the band and saved me a copy as he knew I would want it. I miss the days of record store employees really knowing their customers like that. They still do I suppose, but it doesn’t feel the same. This was released on CD too, so be sure to pick it up if you see it out in the wild. Highly recommend🍻 Beautiful Skin ‘Revolve’ US LP - 2000 via Gold Standard Laboratories
