🚨 3 mistakes that are making powder skiing harder than it needs to be 👇❄️ 1. You’re not skiing fast enough. Powder creates way more resistance than groomers. If you’re going too slow, your skis will sink instead of float. Carry a little more speed and you’ll notice an instant difference. 2. You’re turning with your upper body. A lot of skiers twist their shoulders and throw their arms around to force the skis to turn. This usually puts you in the backseat and makes you lose balance. Instead, keep your upper body calm and facing down the hill while your legs do the work underneath you. Let your lower body guide the skis through each turn. 3. Your stance is too wide. A wide stance works against you in deep snow. Keep your feet a little closer together so both skis can float and move through the powder as one. Powder skiing isn’t about working harder—it’s about using the right technique. Another one of the best ski days of my life. I’m losing track! We’ve had so many this year. One of my top tips for powder skiing is that speed is your friend. You have to be confident, aggressive and you have to charge. It takes power and force to break through the snow. You have to embrace the weightlessness and succumb to gravity, letting go of some control. It’s a beautiful dance of light, hydrology and gravity.
