Happy National Golden Retriever Day! To be honest every day is golden retriever day for us. 😅🥰 We are so thankful for this special breed. Goldens are such beautiful creatures on the inside and out.🥹 We are so lucky to have them in our lives. #goldenretriever #goldenretrieversofinstagram #goldenretrievers #goldenpuppy #nationalgoldenretrieverday

Part 2 of yesterday’s post, this shows how all the separate layers of a scene fit together to compose a landscape shot, from the initial pencil test layout (credit to Dan St. Pierre) , the sky & clouds (layer 1), Pride Rock itself (layer 2), the foreground (layer 3), my finished shot, Disney’s finished shot, and finally, the final film. Also fun fact: Dan St. Pierre was the art director who brought the “Deep Canvas” technique to Disney’s Tarzan, for which he received a 1999 Annie Award nomination. #thelionking1994 #priderock #scenecomposition #pridelands #conceptart #2danimation

In Disney’s The Lion King, Pride Rock is the home of Simba and his family. It overlooks the Pride Lands, Simba’s kingdom. This rock formation is similar to Fischer’s Tower, a rock formation overlooking Hell’s Gate, a national park in Kenya that inspired the filmmakers behind The Lion King!
