If you’re trying to break into construction management or accelerate your career, these are the certifications I’d prioritize: 1️⃣ OSHA 30 The foundation. Most commercial GCs expect a strong understanding of jobsite safety. 2️⃣ Procore Project Manager Certification Procore is one of the industry’s most widely used platforms. Learning it gives you an edge for roles like Project Engineer, Assistant Superintendent, Assistant PM, and Project Manager. 3️⃣ CMIT (Construction Manager-in-Training) A great certification from CMAA for professionals early in their construction management careers. 4️⃣ PMP (Project Management Professional) Once you meet the experience requirements, this credential can help open doors to senior leadership and project management roles. 5️⃣ Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project Scheduling is one of the highest-value skills in construction. Mastering either platform will set you apart. 6️⃣ Bluebeam Revu Certification You’ll likely use Bluebeam daily for plan reviews, markups, quantity takeoffs, and document management. 7️⃣ LEED Green Associate Ideal if you’re interested in sustainable construction or projects pursuing LEED certification. 8️⃣ CCM (Certified Construction Manager) One of the best Constrcution Management certifications you could do if you want to work as a Construction Manager for large organizations ✅ Certifications won’t replace real-world experience but they can help you stand out, build credibility, and show employers you’re invested in your career. ✅ Follow @constructing.tomorrow for more content related to construction Construction, construction management, project management, project manager, construction manager, civil engineering
Rewatching A New Hope as a project manager exposes the Jedi Council's catastrophic planning. From zero-trust data transfers to unvetted contractors and zero QA testing, Operation Restore Republic was an operational disaster. Discover why the Rebellion's workflow is completely unsustainable.
At $2M in revenue, most founders hire a project manager before they hire someone to take sales off their plate.
Nothing will make a Project Manager appreciate their superintendent faster than being a “temporary replacement.” Day 1; 7am: “Everything’s under control.” Day 1; 10:33am: 17 questions. Most of which were answered by showing the sub how to open his drawings. 2 trades threatening to walk. The Owner’s QA showed up unannounced. The drywall crew is hanging walls on the wrong side of a “one-side” Day 2; 3:45pm: The PM is googling: “Are there building code requirements for who can legally be a superintendent?” Turns out the superintendent wasn’t “just walking the site.” He was actually preventing 47 disasters a day that trailer never even knew existed. Funny how the smoothest jobs are usually the ones where nobody notices the person keeping the circus together. Enjoy your vacation, Super. We’ll be here counting down the minutes until your return. PS - tag the Elite PM that this reminds you of in the comments. I’ll go first.

If you work in Construction Management, you NEED to know these software tools 🏗️💻👇 You don’t have to be an expert in all of them, but knowing the basics will put you ahead. 1. Bluebeam 📐 One of the most useful tools in construction. You’ll use it to review drawings, create markups, take measurements, compare revisions and overlay plans. The faster you can navigate a drawing set, contracts, and create markups, the better. 2. Procore 🏗️ Your project documentation lives here. RFIs, submittals, drawings, daily logs, photos, observations and more. As a Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Superintendent, you could be in Procore every day. 3. Primavera P6 + Microsoft Project 📅 Construction revolves around the schedule. Learn activities, durations, predecessors, successors, milestones and the critical path. You may not build the master schedule as a PE, but you NEED to know how to read one and build your own. 4. Microsoft Office 💻 Especially Excel and Outlook. Excel is used for tracking logs, quantities, procurement, manpower, budgets and more. Outlook is where a huge amount of project communication happens. 5. Autodesk 🏢 Get familiar with AutoCAD, Revit and Autodesk’s BIM/construction tools. Even if you’re not in VDC, knowing how to navigate models and understand coordination makes you more valuable - especially on complex projects where coordination is key. Even basic experience can help you stand out when applying for internships and entry-level Project Engineer roles. #construction #constructionmanagement #engineering #projectengineer #bloomcreator @bloomsupps

Most contractors misunderstand what a Project Manager actually does. Yes, sometimes the PM has to call the plumber. Yes, sometimes the PM has to order material. Yes, sometimes the PM has to chase submittals. Especially in smaller companies. But that's not the job. That's a task. The job is to: ✓ Protect Schedule ✓ Protect Margin ✓ Protect Cash Flow ✓ Protect Contract Entitlement ✓ Manage Risk Calling the plumber isn't the objective. Protecting the schedule is the objective. Ordering material isn't the objective. Protecting margin is the objective. Sending an RFI isn't the objective. Protecting contract entitlement is the objective. The best project managers understand that every construction decision creates a financial outcome. That's why project management isn't task management. It's risk management. And risk management is financial management. A Project Manager's job is to convert risk into profit.
