You are not separate from nature. 🌿 Right now, bulldozers are plowing through Big Bend National Park. Developers are trying to carve private roads into Yosemite National Park. 90% of Utah’s public lands are being opened to unprecedented development. The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge has been auctioned off in pieces. Wild horses are being rounded up and sold for cheap meat. The Amazon is being mined for gold. And rivers of plastic continue to flow through our oceans and waterways.❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 I believe this level of destruction is a reflection of an internal crisis of the human spirit.  It reveals the profound illusion that we are separate from the natural world. The same elements that move through the stars, 🌌⭐️the mountains, rivers, forests and oceans move through us. We are here for a brief temporary period of time, woven into something infinitely larger than ourselves.🪐 What if, instead of leading with plunder, greed, domination and destruction, we led with reverence, awe, compassion and stewardship?🌿 Experiencing our connection to ourselves helps us remember our connection to the Earth. For 26 years, this has been at the heart of my work. I’ve taught people to come home to themselves — to experience the body not as something separate from the natural world around us, but as an inseparable part of it. We are not separate.  We are nature. Nature has a way of teaching us the most important values. As humans, we have come a long way. We have made our lives better and easier and we can continue to do so. But there comes a time when we must draw a line. We cannot deny that we are still human beings and we are part of the natural world. We were meant to think, we were meant to use our hands, we were meant to live in harmony with earth. Let’s never lose sight of that. Once the air is completely polluted, after the rivers run dry and the soil is destroyed, contaminated and depleted, it will be too late.
