There are a few little quirks and differences that catch people off guard when they first move to Utah.
1️⃣ Turn signals are apparently optional.
IYKYK.
The number of people who just drift into another lane or make a full turn without ever blinking is next level.
2️⃣ A turn arrow doesn’t mean you’re getting a green turn arrow.
Left-turn arrow at most intersections just flash yellow — which basically means: “Good luck and yield to oncoming traffic.”
3️⃣ Sundays are quiet… like eerily quiet.
A lot of local businesses and restaurants are closed on Sundays. I have come to enjoy the rest from the usual hustle and bustle.
4️⃣ Liquor laws are… unique.
No, it’s not a dry state, you can still buy and consume alcohol, plenty of people do. Grocery store beer is lower alcohol and only state liquor store have wine or spirits. Bars are a thing, but they come with their own rules. DM me if you’re really worried but most people adapt just fine.
5️⃣ Kindness is part of the culture.
If your neighbors find out you’re having a baby, medical procedure or family emergency, they’ll likely offer a meal or other help. It’s not weird, people here just genuinely care about each other.
6️⃣ There are more soda shops than coffee shops
You might see an occasional Starbucks, Dutch Bros or local coffee shop but soda shops are EVERYWHERE! I struggled with this at first but now I’ve found my fav coffee shops but I frequent soda shops more than I’d like to admit.
Utah is an incredible place to live once you learn the rhythm.

Day 3 in Utah Valley 🍂🌄
Day 3 was all about exploring the heart of Provo and soaking up those cozy local vibes 🙌
We started the morning walking the Provo River Trail to Bridal Veil Falls, an easy and beautiful walk with waterfalls, fall colors, and mountain views around every corner.
Next up, breakfast at Hruska’s Kolaches, a total local favorite and the perfect grab and go bite before strolling through the Provo Farmers Market.
We spent the afternoon wandering Downtown Provo, grabbing lunch at Station 22 Café, and checking out Dreamwalk Park inside the Provo Towne Centre Mall, which turned out to be such a fun hidden gem.
To wrap up the day, we had dinner at Motel West, and the carne asada tacos were unreal 🌮🔥
Utah Valley has a way of making every day feel like a new adventure and we’re already missing it here.

In fact Petroliana has the largest collection of pole signs in the WORLD🌎
The owners of the storage facility started this collection and it has grown since 1983! They graciously let visitors come view it for free while the storage facility is open! But please be respectful while visiting❤️

Monday- Saturday 9 am - 6 pm

🍀Planted In Pages: Step into a cozy home-turned bookstore! It’s PROBABLY the most adorable shop I’ve stepped into! Green walls, lush greenery, vintage furniture and chandeliers…along with a great selection of books and gifts.
🎬Moon’s Rare Gifts and Books: A bookstore disguised as a museum and it’s home to some of the most interesting books and artifacts in the world! The owner has the most CRAZY collections and rotates the artifacts in the lobby area regularly. Worth the stop FOR SURE!
📘Pioneer Book: this is a used bookstore so you never know what treasures can be found on their shelves. They do their best to keep a wide variety of titles from all genres and topics. The building is two stories tall, with lots of fun sitting areas and nooks throughout. The front desk, alone, is made up stacked colorful books.
