The RENNtech Sledgehammer’s widebody merges the bespoke customization process with cutting edge design, precision engineering, and 36 years of Performance Without Compromise. Developed and built entirely in house, the SEC Sledgehammer V12 merges Hartmut’s pre-merger heritage with RENNtech’s state-of-the-art engineering, continuing a lineage rooted in the golden era of bespoke Mercedes-Benz performance. At the heart of the SEC Sledgehammer lies a 7.5 liter naturally aspirated V12, based on the legendary M120 architecture. The engine is comprehensively reengineered with forged internals, CNC-ported cylinder heads, advanced intake and exhaust systems, equal length headers, and bespoke calibration. Output is rated at 650 horsepower and 650 Ib-ft of torque, delivered through a 7-speed manual transaxle. This is 1 of 100 Mercedes-Benz R129 SL 600’s originally built for the North American market and right now the only Silver Arrow SL74 powered by a RENNtech built M120 V12 engine. The engine features lightweight pistons, titanium connecting rods, and a custom crankshaft. It was completely stripped from to the block, bored and honed for a larger displacement, built and re-sealed by RENNtech. On the dyno the engine power measured an output of 526 HP and 575 ft-lo of torque. Additionally, this R129 got a newly designed and developed brake system which features 355mm front rotors, 325mm rear rotors, 4-piston front and rear calipers. The RENNtech SL74 exhaust system features a mid pipe, resonator delete and RENNtech dual tip mufflers - all made of stainless steel. The transmission was upgraded with additional clutch packs, refreshed and resealed. A RENNtech spec Torque Converter was added for improved durability and handling of the increased power output. This SL74 also got a suspension upgrade which includes a RENNtech designed rear multi-link kit which allows for camber and toe adjustments.
