Sustainability Reimagined: A versatile material with a story, from packaging to furniture.
Take a closer look at the packaging for Sony products such as the WH-1000XM6 headphones, WF-1000XM6 earbuds, and the Xperia 10 VII smartphone.
Sony’s Original Blended Material paper-based packaging is thoughtfully designed to reflect its natural origins and encourage recycling after unboxing.
Now, that same innovative material is being highlighted at FuoriSalone 2026 as part of INTERNI MATERIAE, the exhibition-event organized by INTERNI for Milan Design Week. Sony will showcase furniture and display fixtures made from Original Blended Material, sharing the story behind the material with a global design audience.
From product packaging to future applications, this is a closer look at how Original Blended Material can be reimagined.

Nine years ago today, we unveiled our MARS Pavilion in front of @jeffbezos and other industry leaders at Amazon’s annual MARS Conference. This project marked the launch of our architecture and design studio, Form Found Design.
•
Our thesis was simple: automate the concrete casting process to digitally fabricate complex geometry inspired by nature. To ensure every wishbone was in compression, we used form-finding to optimize a catenary shell. Using two industrial robots, we reconfigured a sleeve of fabric into various geometries, each bolted to a repetitive steel coupler, forming the catenary dome structure.
•
The MARS Pavilion would then move the the @aplusd_la Museum then @cts.rapidset HQ.
•
This is insane. And “Insane” is the best compliment I give.
-Jeff Bezos
•
This project was a colossal undertaking with many partners, collaborators and volunteers who all shared in this vision. While our portfolio may take on various forms, our thesis remains the same: We use Form Finding to achieve forms in nature through advanced technology.

You are welcome to Finissage & ArtisTalk on April 11th, 4pm @kwadratgalerie
THE OTHER ONE by @katzelana, @dariosrbic and @joshuafineberg
Site-specific performance sculpture:
3D-printed cylinders, 57 mm diameter × 108 mm height are available at the Gallery.
In this performance Elana Katz works site-specifically with the space of Galerie KWADRAT. The gallery has a high ceiling that spans two floors; a ladder is installed between these two floors, leading up to an opening to the gallery’s office, located nearly at the roof of the building.
Katz makes the durational commitment to go up and down this ladder to explore the space between these two heights, these two floors, to confront her own fear of heights; to confront the fear of falling.
The action takes place for one hour. Dario Srbić’s sensors collect the biometric data of Katz’s physical and mental experience of fear in real-Tme — her sweat, heartbeat, brainwaves, muscles — anchored by the collarbone. This data drives an AI-connected 3D printer, which carves spiral grooves into cylindrical sculptures, accumulaTng the intensiTes of fear as conTnuous topography. Each revoluTon records another moment of the performer’s body meeTng its threshold.
The 3D printer and Katz’s body perform in dialogue — two instruments registering the same experience. The resulTng sculptures become physical maps of the space between the ladder’s boXom and top, between fear and its confrontaTon. Six sculptures emerge over the hour, one every ten minutes — fear read through the classical language of the body. From the same recorded signals, six more follow: the same experience reinterpreted through computaTonal analysis, the same hour cut differently each Tme.

Another successful week at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the world’s largest connectivity event! 🌍✨
This marks the fourth year we've delivered the JMA booth at the show. By evolving and reusing key elements from previous years, we've continued to develop the space, offering a fresh experience for visitors while prioritizing sustainability. 🌿
It was a pleasure to collaborate once again with the JMA team and our partners, JPC, who produced all the digital content that brought the space to life. 🎥
We are always proud to see these spaces come together.

Quadrifoglio: Gradual Furniture
- Salone del Mobile Milano 2024
by @x_rex.lab at @exparch.hochbau at @uniinnsbruck
Introducing the Quadrifoglio collection: a suite of robotically 3D printed stools at the intersection of digital design experimentation, cyclical material innovation, and robotic fabrication. Named after the Italian term for the four-leaf clover, a symbol traditionally associated with good fortune and luck, the Quadrifoglio collection embodies the spirit of innovation and creativity that defines REX|LAB.
Quadrifoglio: REX|LABs limited collection for the 2024 Milan Design Week – a project that leverages automation and material innovation to redefine the boundaries of contemporary furniture design and showcase the intersection of cutting-edge technology with sustainable materials.
he stools, designed for both indoor and outdoor use, are crafted from a blend of eco-friendly, sustainable, and/or recycled biocomposite materials derived from wood, cellulose fibres, and repurposed polymers.

The robot apocalypse just went open source. 🦸
ETH Zurich built a robotic hand for under $2,000. It ran for 7 hours straight without a single failure. All the design files are free. You can print it at home.
Meet ORCA:
• Under $2,000 (vs $100K+ for comparable hands)
• 3D-printed in a single day
• Tactile sensors on every fingertip
• Self-calibrating
• Joints that dislocate, don't break
• 7 hours autonomous, zero failures
• Holds 20+ lbs
• Learns by watching — imitation + sim-to-real
The barrier to building a robot hand just dropped 98%. Any lab. Any garage. Any country with a 3D printer.
