Albino Redwood in Henry Cowell State Park near Santa Cruz California. There's a relatively large population of these albino trees around Santa Cruz.
Just a casual, totally average walk through an old-growth redwood forest with the one and only @thenaturenut. One of the best parts of a Sierra Club Outing is the chance to learn from the people who know a place best—local experts, naturalists, and Indigenous leaders who share stories, history, and perspectives you just can’t get from a guidebook. It’s the kind of experience that transforms an average trip into an unforgettable one. . #sierracluboutings #adventuretravel #redwood #redwoodsrising #grouptours
This epic hike in California will blow your mind - here’s how you can visit! ⬇️ ✍️ Comment “redwood trip” and I’ll send you a full itinerary to this amazing California destination Send this to the person you wanna come here with! 📩 Follow @wheresjanice for more California adventures and camping tips! ✨ I had very little expectation of this trail just because I’m more of a mountains kinda gal, but Fern Canyon blew me away during my visit to the Redwood National and State Parks😍 The moment you step into the canyon you’ll find yourself surrounded by 50-ft tall fern walls. You’ll be walking through a shallow creek and ducking under tree debris from winter floods. Here are some things you need to know before coming to Fern Canyon: 💦 Your feet will likely get wet so just embrace it and have fun! Wear sandals/trail runners/waterproof shoes and bring dry socks or flip flops to change into afterwards 🗓 Visiting in summer? From May 15 to Sept 15, you need a day use permit to park at Gold Bluffs Beach and access Fern Canyon. These are limited and must be reserved online ahead of time. 75 are available in advance, and another 100 are released the day before. 🚙 About that road in… We took a 1 mile loop that starts at the end of Davison Road - an unpaved and narrow dirt road (high clearance vehicles recommended). 🎟 $12 entrance fee (cash only) at the Gold Bluffs kiosk - or use your America The Beautiful pass I think Fern Canyon does live up to its hype and I love how relaxing it is to walk along literal fern walls 🌿 Even if you haven’t seen Jurassic Park, just imagine you’re walking through a prehistoric jungle 🦕 📍Fern Canyon, Prairie Creek Redwood State Park
